The Overwatch Team is seeking an imaginative resourceful and technically proficient Narrative Designer to join our team. If you share a passion for developing interesting worlds compelling characters and enjoyable stories then this position is perfect for you.
As part of the Narrative Design team your daytoday responsibilities will include story development; creating diverse characters and dialogue for our new and current roster of Heroes; dialogue implementation and scripting; giving voice over direction to our talented voice actors; providing feedback about the IP story and gameplay; and collaborating with other narrative team members and designers.
Responsibilities
- Write lines that quickly and concisely convey momenttomoment gameplay in a Heros unique voice.
- Implement and script lines and conversations via Blizzards proprietary tool.
- Guide VO studio sessions and ensure highquality voice recordings.
- Collaborate with other teams to build stories focused on our outstanding IP and Heroes while championing player experience and gameplay.
- Maintain the vision of the Overwatch universe and contribute to its narrative development.
- Continuously research and adapt to industry trends to enhance storytelling techniques.
- Name cosmetics events abilities and more in line with the style of the IP.
- Work with other departments to maintain story consistency and support narrative needs across disciplines.
Requirements
- 3 years of demonstrated experience as a Narrative Designer/Writer.
- At least one shipped AAA game title in a Writer/Narrative role.
- Prior experience in giving voice direction and working with voice actors.
- Ability to provide constructive feedback and collaborate effectively with a diverse team.
- Strong understanding of narrative design principles and player experience.
Location: This role is Hybrid 3 days per week) in Irvine CA
Pluses
- Game knowledge and an understanding of the design principles behind games.
- Understanding and knowledge of the Overwatch universe.
- Experience in game design and/or level design.
- Experience writing branching and nonlinear dialogue for games.
- Published writing work (novels short fiction film television comics).
- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.

You can learn more by visiting the U.S. the standard base pay range for this role is $29.81 $55.14 Hourly. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately your specific range and offer will be based on several factors including relevant experience performance and work location. In addition to a competitive base pay employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed. While we strive to provide competitive offers to successful candidates new hire compensation is negotiable.
