Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast affordable broadband to a wide range of customers including consumers businesses government agencies and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.
The Senior Technical Program Manager for Kuiper will help define and develop the interfaces manage requirements and organize technical efforts. This role includes direct responsibility for program and project management of system level development. This is a highly technical role requiring experience with integrated hardware and software development as well as some appreciation for complex applications. You will have significant influence over the design and the test approach we take to develop and test the system.
Key job responsibilities
This position requires a program management background and direct experience developing relevant systems. You will create and drive highlevel strategic initiatives but will also roll up your sleeves and contribute directly. A Senior TPM anticipates bottlenecks uses great judgment to make tradeoffs and balances the business needs with technical constraints. Your ability to understand the big picture of the project design and anticipate and plan dependencies is crucial. Your ability to take large complex projects break them into manageable pieces and deliver timely results is invaluable. You will work with a team of experts and drive the team to successfully accomplish the following activities:
Develop and manage technical requirements for build verification validation of complex test systems.
Decompose technical requirements for test into software and hardware requirements aligned with development manufacturing and verification test strategy
Identify and manage the conduct of trade studies and analyses necessary to define automated test station hardware and software requirements.
Drive the development of automated test processes and equipment to improve manufacturability.
Coordinate and manage a large number of dependencies across many engineering disciplines to ensure timely delivery of hardware and software to meet the program schedules.
Develop program and team processes and tools as required.
You must be fully competent in a variety of project management tools methodologies and techniques for all phases of the project lifecycle and exhibit demonstrated proficiency in core project management disciplines including scope schedule budget resources quality and risk management reporting and metric development/tracking.
Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national U.S. permanent resident (i.e. current Green Card holder) or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Bachelors degree in electrical engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
5 years of hardware software system integration and test development of complex systems across the full product life cycle concept to production.
2 years in a technical lead systems engineer or technical program management role with significant experience architecting and integrating HW and SW into a complex system.
2 years leading crossfunctional teams delivering products on schedule.
Masters degree in physics electrical engineering communications engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
Experience with Antenna test systems.
Experience with highvolume manufacturing test methods concepts and solutions.
Ability to lead interdisciplinary discussions between Hardware Reliability and Firmware teams to define and drive scope and clarity of work and reach optimum system level trades.
Experience in highspeed characterization of devices operation of highspeed and highfrequency test equipment network analyzers spectrum analyzers and highspeed oscilloscopes.
Experience developing highperformance systems for aerospace applications or systems.
Experience in automated testing and system characterization.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Track record of successfully delivering complete systems (hardware firmware software) on time to scope with high quality.
Ability to regularly engage with senior stake holders and influence across the organization.
Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills with ability to work successfully across all engineering disciplines.
High sense of ownership urgency and drive.
Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and nontechnical individuals.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $235200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
