Job Description

What will you be doing 

Were looking for a Mechanical Engineer with a passion for tank design to join a fastpaced nuclear project. Youll be part of a team solving complex engineering challenges that directly impact the UKs energy landscape. If pressure vessels seismic loads and precision design get you excited this ones for you.

Your main responsibilities will be: 

  • Designing and optimising industrial tanks (pressure surge accumulator and storage).
  • Performing stress and pressure calculations ensuring structural integrity.
  • Solving realworld challenges like hydrostatic pressure wind and seismic forces.
  • Delivering designs from concept through fabrication installation and commissioning.
  • Using advanced software tools for 3D modelling stress analysis and compliance checking.

Who are we looking for 

  • Tank Design Expertise 35 years preferred):
    Experience designing a range of tanks storage tanks accumulator tanks surge tanks and pressure vessels used in sectors like energy oil & gas water treatment or industrial manufacturing.
  • Software Skills:
    Proficient in Bentley AutoPIPE Vessel PV Elite or COMPRESS for design; FEA tools like ANSYS or Abaqus; and CAD tools like AutoCAD Inventor or SolidWorks for 2D/3D modelling.
  • Industry Standards:
    Solid understanding of ASME BPVC (Section VIII) API 650/620/653 EN 14015 and EN 13445 from design to inspection.

Experience skills and qualifications required: 

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering Pressure Vessel Design or a related discipline.
  • Proficient in identifying design challenges and proposing innovative solutions ensuring the integrity and safety of tank structures.
