Job Description

Executive Director of Secondary Curriculum




Date: July 1 2016

Reports to: Superintendent

Supervises: Curriculum Office Personnel Secondary Principals and

Alternative and Online Education Director

and Title VI Director

Qualifications: Valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate

Valid Oklahoma Administrators Certificate

Job Goal: Leads the district in the development of district policies and procedures related to instruction and professional development to ensure academic success for students.

Employment Terms: 12 month contract

Generally 7:30 A.M. 4:30 P.M. exclusive of a 1 hour lunch to accommodate curriculum office hours and supervision of personnel.

FLSA Classification: Exempt

Evaluation: Annually by Superintendent

Regular Requirements: Sit for extended periods; twist at the neck and trunk; bend and reach at below and above shoulder level repetitive use of fingers and hands to grasp and/or operate equipment; lift/move up to 15 pounds

Occasional Requirements: Walk reach with hands and arms overhead above shoulder and horizontally; lift/move up to 25 pounds

Visual Requirements: Close color peripheral depth perception ability to adjust focus

Hearing/Speaking Requirements: Adequate to exchange information










Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Keeps abreast of developments in the area of student learning and makes recommendations concerning their appropriateness for inclusion in the districts educational program.
  2. Maintains liaison and active participation roles with educational leaders in the area of student learning at state regional and national levels.
  3. Serves on the Superintendents Cabinet Administrative Council Academic Council meetings and Curriculum Review Committee.
  4. Ensures that district curriculum is aligned to state and national standards.
  5. Advises and plans Board Curriculum Committee.
  6. Provides leadership and provides resources for district content area curriculum committees.
  7. Assists in the selection and adoption of new instructional materials methods and programs.
  8. Chairs district textbook committee and Assessment Task Force.
  9. Attends Academic Council meetings.
  10. Maintains district curriculum web site.
  11. Guides and develops the development and implementation of student competencies at the district grade and program levels which includes Assessment.
  12. Monitors ELL programming and make program recommendations.
  13. Mentors secondary principals and provides guidance to them on instructional supervision.
  14. Plans for secondary summer school programming staffing and budgeting.
  15. Provides an analysis of assessment data regarding the effects of specific programs on student achievement.
  16. Assists and provides training to teachers in developing and using meaningful classroom assessment.
  17. Is knowledgeable in school improvement practices and models and leads in activities on development at sites and districtwide on school improvement practices.
  18. Applies for professional development and school improvement funding to expand programs.
  19. Coordinates the following programs:
  • Title VI (Indian Education Grant)
  • Migrant Education
  • English Language Learners
  1. Prepares and oversees the District Curriculum budget Title VI Title III grants migrant funds and corresponding budgets.
  2. Provides assessment data with an analysis as may be required for grants.
  3. Assists with Teacher of the Year recognition.
  4. Serves on the district Professional Development Committee and Professional Development Task Force.
  5. Assists in TLE with HR Director and Elementary Curriculum Director
  6. Oversees the implementation of IXL 6th 12th) and data is used at site PLCs
  7. Ok Career Guide use and implementation for graduation requirements pathways and student achievement
  8. Assists in expanding and supporting the Internship Program and STEM Academy
  9. Attends Board of Education Meetings.
  10. To ensure continuity of services remote work may be necessary in the event of a health crisis or disruptive situation that requires the closing of school and/or office buildings. An employees eligibility for remote work will be determined by the superintendent of schools. Expectations and guidelines for remote work will be distributed by the employees supervisor based on his/her role and responsibilities.
  11. Performs all other tasks as supervisor may assign.
