Job Description

Job Summary: The Marketing and Communications Specialist will play a critical role in shaping the organizations public image and strengthening its connection with the community. By effectively managing communications across various platforms this role ensures that key messages reach the intended audiences with clarity and impact. Under the leadership of the districts public information officer the marketing and communications specialist will deliver rich content and execute comprehensive marketing and communication strategies to advance the publics awareness of the highquality services provided by the district.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Public Relations:
    • Develop and implement public relations strategies to promote the organizations brand and initiatives.
    • Support editing press releases media statements and other PR materials.
    • Build and maintain relationships with media outlets and manage media inquiries.
  • Video Streaming and AudioVisual UserExperience Support:
    • Assist with coordinating live streaming of events webinars and other digital content.
    • Create edit and produce video content for promotional and informational purposes.
    • Partner with the technology support team to ensure a seamless user experience.
  • FOIA Requests:
    • Coordinate the response to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests promptly and accurately under the supervision of the Public Information Officer (PIO).
    • Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements related to FOIA.
    • Maintain records of all FOIA requests and responses.
  • Website Management:
    • Partner with schools and departments to design update and maintain the organizations website ensuring content is current relevant and engaging.
    • Monitor website analytics to track performance and suggest improvements.
    • Optimize the website for SEO and ensure a seamless user experience.
  • Social Media Design and Management:
    • Develop and execute social media strategies to enhance the organizations online presence.
    • Create engaging content including graphics videos and written posts.
    • Monitor social media channels respond to inquiries and engage with the audience.
    • Analyze social media performance and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Partnership and Subject Matter Expertise (SME) Consultation Services:
    • Coordinate the development of largescale communication efforts in collaboration with various schools and departments.
    • Ensure consistent messaging and branding across all district communications.
    • Provide direct support to webmasters and other schoolbased personnel.
    • Develop and implement marketing and communications plans in collaboration with district departments.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Marketing Communications Public Relations Education or a related field.
  • Proven experience in marketing communications and public relations.
  • Proficiency in video editing software audiovisual equipment and live streaming platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of website management including experience with CMS (Content Management Systems) and SEO.
  • Excellent design skills with proficiency in graphic design software (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage social media platforms and create compelling content.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fastpaced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Rock Hill residency preferred.
  • Experience in a nonprofit or educational organization.
  • Familiarity with analytics tools like Google Analytics and social media insights.
  • Knowledge of HTML CSS and basic web development principles.

Working Conditions:

  • This position may require occasional evening or weekend work for events or live streaming.
  • Ability to travel as needed for offsite events and activities.

The Marketing and Communications Specialist will be pivotal in enhancing the organizations communication efforts ensuring cohesive messaging across all platforms and engaging with the community effectively.

Salary Range: Specialist

Length of Contract: 240 days/8 hours per day

Starting Date:School Year

College transcripts three references and a copy of appropriate credentials should also be submitted during the application process.

Prior to employment the District will request a criminal record history check for past actions of crimes. For this reason information about date of birth gender and race is requested as a part of the application process.

The district reserves the right to make changes to the job posting/description as necessary to meet the districts needs.

Experience

Jobrelated experience with increasing levels of responsibility is desired.
