Position Summary
Washington University seeks an advancement professional for the position of Senior Strategy Officer. University Advancement strives to advance the mission of the school by creating a culture of philanthropy among alumni students faculty and friends.
The Senior Strategy Officer will play a critical role in developing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising strategy that aligns with the mission and goals of many of WashUs interdisciplinary programs including University Libraries the Gephardt Institute for Civic and Community Engagement and the Skandalaris Center. This position requires strong leadership and strategic thinking skills along with the ability to form relationships and work collaboratively with stakeholders. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in fundraising and a deep understanding of both traditional and innovative fundraising practices.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist ED with Dean/ Unit Lead relationship management and unit liaison.
- Staff the dean/unit lead for meetings and or events (local and out of town).
- Work with board/ committee engagement strategy oversight.
- Implement annual operational plans (events calendar communication calendar etc.
- Provide guidance and support to the fundraising team ensuring they have the necessary resources and training to meet their targets.
Subject Matter Expert (SME) and priority development.
- Develop detailed knowledge of key school/ program priorities and the University priorities that align with them.
- Serve as SME for all opportunities in the school/program with accountability of fundraising progress toward fiscal year benchmarks.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in fundraising to ensure the organization remains competitive and innovative.
Fundraising Strategy and school or program portfolio management
- Ensure generalist colleagues have effective school and programbased strategies.
- Support unitbased training for gift officers.
- Assist with driving operational strategy.
- Create and oversee the implementation of fundraising campaigns events and initiatives to engage existing and potential donors.
- Monitor and analyze fundraising metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of strategies and make datadriven adjustments as needed.
- Highlevel volunteer and donor engagement and stewardship.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary Range
$75200.00 $128800.00 / Annually
The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including ones qualifications and performance equity with others in the department market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
