MedVet is seeking a strong Medical Director (MD) to lead our Chicago IL hospitalone of our largest and most comprehensive facilities in the country.
MedVet Chicago provides 24/7 emergency and critical care alongside a wide range of specialty services. Each year our team treats over 38000 patients in a 65000squarefoot AAHAaccredited facility equipped with MRI CT fluoroscopy and LINAC.
Were proud to also offer dedicated emotional support through onsite veterinary social workers available seven days a week to assist both clients and caregivers.
About the Medical Director Role:
At MedVet we believe hospital leadership is critical to our mission. We use a Dyad Leadership Model where the Medical Director (MD) partners with a Hospital Director (HD) to colead the hospital. The MD reports to a Regional Medical Director and oversees all doctors (specialty emergency interns and residents) driving a culture that embodies Teamwork Leadership and Compassion.
In partnership with the HD the MD helps shape and execute strategies that support exceptional patient care employee engagement and sustainable growth.

Who You Are:
A leader with at least 10 years of progressive experience in veterinary human healthcare or a similar field
Proven ability to lead through growth change and transformation
Skilled in conflict resolution even in highly emotional situations
Ideally a boardcertified specialist experienced ER DVM or a DVM with relevant leadership background (including military or corporate animal health)
Key Responsibilities:
Build and foster a culture of engaged empowered and continuously improving team members
Partner with the HD to colead hospital operations and strategy
Lead the Medical Services Team including doctor hiring onboarding development and performance management
Oversee department workflows to ensure highquality efficient and compassionate patient care
Manage doctor scheduling department communications and meetings
Collaborate with the HD to ensure the Clinical Services team has the resources they need
Oversee hospital financials including budget planning inventory and capital expenditures
Strengthen Referral Partner relationships by encouraging outreach and professional education activities
Handle escalated patient care issues client complaints and referral concerns
Engage with regulatory bodies as necessary
