Alternative to Alternative education. Indie Academy provides young adults with the opportunity to learn in a supportive environment using flexible learning and individualised education plans tailored to each students own education and life circumstances. 1:1 teaching and small class sizes allow students greater opportunity to identify their strengths.
The Indie Academy is an innovative educational program that is integrated into Indie school campuses nationwide. Through our Learning Management System Canvas you will have the chance to develop interactive online material for students to utilise. Additionally you will be involved in coordinating weekly community lunches for students as part of our Eat Well Do Well Program.
Description
Core Workplace Objectives
- Preparation and delivery of programs in line with appropriate curriculum.
- Ensuring the most effective use of time and resources in the delivery of workshops aligned to students individual learning and pathways plans.
- Promoting the schools alternative educational and strengthsbased model to ensure student goals and personal outcomes are achieved with the focus on Changing the Lives of Young People.
Workplace Tasking & Key Responsibilities
Teaching duties are aligned with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers. Key duties of the teacher may include but are not limited to:
- Writing curriculum that provides adjustments for students (this requires an understanding of State curricula; understanding of the State Curriculum F10 and WACE will be highly regarded)
- Planning writing and delivering structured lessons that differentiate and personalise the learning for each student
- Embedding best practice pedagogy into lesson plans to engage students.
- Working collaboratively in a small team to implement feedback.
- Embracing opportunities to participate in coaching and mentoring programs.
- Supporting young people with a range of learning needs including disabilities Autism Spectrum Disorder ADD/ADHD low levels of literacy/numeracy and mental illness.
This includes personalising the learning for individual students pursuant to the levels of adjustment of the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD).
- Collaborating to write Individual Learning Plans for all students
- Embedding the strategies from Individual Learning Plans in lessons to support the needs of the student
- Providing timely and specific feedback to students to support learning growth (particularly through formative assessment practices).
- Assessing and reporting student achievement and progress
- Behaviour management (including an understanding of traumainformed practice or a willingness to gain this knowledge)
Skills And Experiences
Essential requirements to verify before commencement:
- Annual National Police Check
- Current Working with Childrens Checkin State/s of operation

Remuneration:
- $98944 $128013 based on education & experience
