Job Description
Kepler is on an audacious mission to deliver Internet connectivity to space creating the infrastructure to support the rapidly increasing data needs of the space economy. With 23 satellites launched to date and our optical constellation on the horizon our ambition is to improve access to spacegenerated data whether in LEO MEO GEO or beyond! Kepler is hard at work innovating and continuing to grow and expand our most important asset the Team!
We are on the hunt for a talented Electrical Design Engineer with a passion for emerging technology likes to take on challenges and would love to join Keplers Electrical team. Here is a little more detail on what you can expect to work on:
Responsibilities:
- Work as part of a crossfunctional engineering team including HW test RF mechanical software and FPGA to develop full product solutions.
- Own new designs from start to finish or iterate on existing designs based on new feature requests lessons learnt and DFx (DFA/DFM/DFT).
- Follow relevant internal and external electrical designforspace standards to ensure the longterm reliability of PCBAs in critical lowearth orbit missions
- Participate in and drive design reviews.
- Create and own the of design validation test plans for new components and systems.
- Perform functional and performance testing on individual boards or integrated subsystems as part of bring up and design validation/verification
Requirements:
- 4 years of postundergrad hardware design experience dealing with boardlevel design debugging and design verification.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to put together thorough design documentation.
- Circuit and layout simulation experience (SPICE or comparable).
- Experience in small multidisciplinary teams on complex technical projects.
- Experience with (or an understanding of) the LEO environment for electronics.
Bonus Points for Experience in:
- Complex Multiboard systems.
- Designa nd development of battery pack systems including cell selection lifetime estimation battery management systems and battery pack construction.
- Electromechanical Assemblies (motor sizing/control actuator selection).
- Power System Design including both discrete and integrated switch mode power supplies power delivery and power system architecture.
- Sensor selection and sensor interfacing.
- High speed design implementing interfaces such as 10Gbit ethernet LVDS protocols DDR4 etc
