Job Description

SUMMARY

As a member of the Advanced Technology group the Systems Engineer is responsible for supporting the Chief Engineer and Program Manager by performing systems engineering analyses for assigned engineering projects. This position is located in Cape Canaveral Florida and reports into the Vice President Advanced Technology.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support system concept development system architecture development system and subsystem requirements development systems analysis and trade studies and systems modeling and simulation
  • Identify requirements participate in design activities and lead integration and test activities
  • Track mission and system configuration information (such as mass properties and performance data) or writing complex specifications and interface control documents

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 510 years of experience with mechanical and/or electrical design of aerospace or robotic systems
  • Bachelors of Science degree in Aerospace Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related STEM field
  • Masters degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering or related STEM field is a plus
  • Must be knowledgeable in spacecraft systems subsystems and payload design and mission operations and be able to quickly develop subject matter expertise in a specific project
  • Practical experience in one or more of the following: avionics or payload electronics design optical systems design telecommunications system design electrical power systems thermal analysis or integration and testing of aerospace systems
  • Previous mechanical design experience with complex mechanisms involving gear trains springs machined components welded structures electric motors and solenoids preferred
  • Knowledge of spacecraft operations and related ground systems preferred
  • Demonstrated technical lead and/or project management experience
  • Selfstarter who works with a sense of urgency
  • Ability to adapt to change in an entrepreneurial environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team
  • Proficient using various analysis engineering tools such as Autodesk Altium or MATLAB
  • To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations under ITAR and EAR applicant must be a U.S. citizen residing in the U.S. or a lawful permanent resident of the U.S. (Green Card holder)
  • Final candidate must pass a background investigation that may include employment verification criminal check education check drug screening credit check and/or driving record check depending on the position
