SAGE is the worlds largest and oldest organization dedicated to improving the lives of lesbian gay bisexual and transgender (LGBTQ) older adults. Founded in 1978 and headquartered in New York City SAGE is a national organization that offers supportive services and consumer resources for LGBTQ older adults and their caregivers advocates for public policy changes that address the needs of LGBTQ older people and provides cultural competency training for aging providers and LGBTQ organizations largely through its National Resource Center on LGBTQ Aging and its growing social enterprise SAGECare.
Role Summary:
Reporting to the Director of SAGE Center Bronx the Program Coordinator is responsible for creating planning and implementing programming for LGBTQ older adults at SAGE Center Bronx. They will also coordinate and support programming delivered by other staff members consultants and volunteers; and they will perform outreach to cultivate an active and engaged pool of participants and attendees at events. They will work collaboratively with other staff to ensure that the programs meet contract deliverables as defined by the NYC Department for the Aging (DFTA) and will maintain accurate program data as it relates to deliverables.
They should have a passion for and considerable experience working with marginalized community (preferably with aging and/or LGBTQ communities) and should ideally have some experience in programmatic design and implementation. They must be able to respectfully interact with relate to and work with LGBTQ older adults community partners and other departments at SAGE.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan promote and facilitate delivery of diverse and attractive programming for LGBTQ older adults at SAGE Center Bronx while ensuring the provision of mandated programming
Coordinate with SAGE program managers consultants volunteers to implement programming
Collaborate with the Center Director and Front Desk Concierge to ensure collection and accurate maintenance of client and service unit statistics and entry into regulatory and agency databases. Provide monthly data reports to SAGE Bronx Director
Conduct ongoing assessment of actual vs. projected service units to ensure NYC Aging targets for SAGE Center Bronx are met completing administrative paperwork to assist in reporting processes
Develop rapport with LGBTQ older adult active (and prospective) participants by engaging with them in the development and evaluation of programming; Nurture a welcoming environment for participation in Center programming and activities
Conduct proactive outreach and develop relationships with community partners for the purpose of creating collaborative programming opportunities and building attendance at SAGE Center events. Build strong relationships with program volunteers and consultants
Provide additional support for programs (assist with equipment setup of audio/visual equipment develop flyers and attendance sheets)
Serve as a knowledgeable resource for participants about SAGEs services and programs and make appropriate referrals when necessary
Assist with food service distribution and with the monthly SAGE Harlem Food Pantry distribution
Represent SAGE Center Bronx at community events and related conferences (e.g. health fairs pride festivals) as needed
Complete mandatory trainings to ensure compliance with health and safety requirements as well as inservice training opportunities that contribute to professional enrichment of staff and innovative programming
Perform other tasks and duties as assigned

Needtohaves:
Bachelors Degree Social Work or other helping profession plus similar or related professional experience (substantial work experience in relevant field may be substituted for degree)
Two 2 years of experience in the aging field LGBTQ services or in program development
Possession of NYC Food Handlers license (or ability to acquire within a reasonable amount of time from the start of employment)
Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work with SAGEs diverse constituency
Experience performing community outreach including creating and implementing targeted outreach plans
Experience collaborating with other communitybased organizations to produce programming
Ability and willingness to travel on public transportation to outreach locations
Ability to work independently with good judgment as well as collaboratively as part of a team
Strong communication organizational and time management skills
Ability to perform multiple tasks while maintaining appropriate level of customer service
Be detailoriented with ability to followthrough on tasks without supervision
Be flexible and dependable
Computer proficient specifically in Microsoft Suite Canva or other graphic design platforms
Ability to learn pertinent regulatory and agency software and database programs
Commitment to SAGEs mission and alignment with SAGEs values
Nicetohaves:
Experience and passion for working with marginalized communities particularly BIPOC and LGBTQ communities
Familiarity with the history and issues facing marginalized older adults and the LGBTQ community
Working knowledge of NYC Department for the Aging regulations and guidelines
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is strongly preferred
What we offer:
The status: Fulltime; Nonexempt
The location: SAGE Center Bronx located at 1784 Prospect Ave Bronx NY 10457
The schedule: 35 hours per week Monday through Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm. Some evenings weekends and/or holidays may be required
The salary: $55000 annualized $30/hour)
