Job Description

Seeking an experienced Clinical Coder to join our team at Aegis Health / Two days a week (flexible).

Minimum 2 years of experience.

About the Role

The position exists to provide high quality clinical coding outcomes in order to maintain excellent information delivery at Aegis Health Inpatient area (Mental Health and Surgical/Endoscopy). Further ensuring relevant policies and procedures are complied with and that work is conducted in a collaborative courteous and supportive manner with patients and the clinical team upholding and promoting the Aegis Health brand philosophy values vision and mission. The role requires extensive experience in Clinical Coding Auditing of Casemix Education and a great understanding of health record systems.

Position Objectives:

Participate in decision making & acts within the limits of your own authority knowledge experience & scope of practice.

Ensure that clinical classification processes utilising the International Classification of Diseases 10th Revision Australian Modifications (ICD10AM) Australian Classification of Health Interventions (ACHI) and the Australian Coding Standards (ACS)ICD10AM are followed in line with ethical responsibilities.

Participating in audit review and development meetings & risk management activities.

Deliver Clinical Classification outcomes in a timely secure reliable efficient & effective manner.

Follow Key Performance Indicators pertaining to Clinical Classification.

Comply with Aegis Health specified Health Information Management standards.

Comply with relevant state & federal legislation in relation to areas such as Privacy and Retention of Health Information.

Continue professional development and ensure coding skills and standards are up to date.

Ensure all clinical documentation is reviewed thoroughly and accurately prior to commitment of coding by ensuring timely and queries are provided to clinical staff members.

Provide coding & documentation advice and education to clinical and nonclinical staff.

About You

Possess extensive experience in Clinical Coding Auditing of Casemix Education and a great understanding of health record system with attention to detail and time management skills.

Hold the following accreditation skills and working rights:

Minimum of two 2 years experience in a clinical classification role within a hospital setting.

Completion of a recognised Clinical Classification course or accredited degree in Health Information Management.

An understanding of activity based funding requirements including Diagnosis Related Groups and health fund contractual obligations.

Demonstrated understanding of anatomy physiology diseases and pathological processes and application to ICD10AM.

Demonstrated commitment to auditing and quality improvement activities.

Demonstrated teamwork ability and the ability to liaise with a variety of roles including clinical positions.

Demonstrated high level of communication (verbal written) and presentation skills.

Demonstrated experience with health information practices and procedures and the ability to deal with confidential information.

Verification of eligibility to work in Australia.

Police check clearance.

Working with Children (WWC) check.
