Job Description


The University of Saint Mary is conveniently located a short 30 minutes drive from Parkville Shawnee Basehor and Kansas City Kansas. The University of Saint Mary is a Roman Catholic liberal arts university located in Leavenworth Kansas just 25 minutes away from Kansas City. For over 100 years the University of Saint Mary has helped students find their way to meaningful lives and careers through an education that blends the liberal arts and a focus on critical thinking with the development of key professional skills. USM serves about 1400 students at its main campus in Leavenworth its satellite location in Overland Park as well as online.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The University of Saint Mary is seeking a fulltime faculty member (ninemonth contract) to teach a variety of courses related to Accounting Economics and Finance within the Division of Business and Information Technologies. The person will join a division of fulltime faculty members dedicated to excellence in teaching and student advising who are committed to upholding IACBE and HLC accreditation standards. Teaching assignments will be predominately onground within the Prison Education Program facilities with occasional onground courses at our Leavenworth campus. Faculty rank is assigned depending on credentials and experience.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Ability to teach variety of topics related to accounting economics and finance; including courses such as Accounting 1 Accounting 2 Microeconomics Macroeconomics and Principles of Finance
  • Prepare syllabi and deliver curriculum appropriate for the course(s) assigned;
  • Maintain effective and timely student assessment and feedback;
  • Manage and foster an inclusive educational environment to serve all learners;
  • Maintain student attendance records in accordance with university policy;
  • Submit midterm and final grades on time;
  • Maintain office hours for student contact and support;
  • Advise students as assigned;
  • Demonstrate professionalism with students faculty staff and administration;
  • Timely attendance at all required training Division meetings and universityrelated meetings;
  • Complete all required training including LMS and HR compliance;
  • Maintain expertise in discipline through scholarly activities;
  • Maintain expertise in current teaching and discipline technologies;
  • Assist with accreditation reporting;
  • Actively participate in governance university committee(s) and other service activities;
  • Participate in ASpire Day activities and workshops;
  • Assist with Prison Education Program administrative tasks as needed; and
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Masters degree in Accounting Economics or Financerelated field in combination with appropriate industry experience is required. Doctorate degree is preferred or a combination of graduate level courses in the discipline and appropriate industry experience to meet HLC credential requirements.
  • At least two years of fulltime (or fulltime equivalent) teaching experience in higher education onground inperson courses strongly preferred.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience running a business or supervising a studentmanaged business is a plus.
  • Experience working with justiceimpacted individuals preferred;
  • Additionally candidates should have an affinity to the mission of the university.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Must pass KDOC BOP and Military Background Checks.
