The Sequoias Community College District is seeking a candidate to fill a fulltime tenuretrack position in the Physical Education/Athletics Department as a Head Baseball Coach/Professor beginning August 2025. The starting base salary for this position ranges between $85715.67 and $113009.45 (depending upon education and experience). This amount will increase if you teach overload and/or summer school.

Inperson first round interviews are May 29 2025 and final inperson interviews will be May 30 2025.

Duties of the Head Baseball Coach/Professor include:

• Servlng as Head Coach for the COS Baseball program. Duties as head coach include taking an active interest In the studentathletes academic endeavors recruiting practice planning offseason conditioning scheduling of competitions and other duties associated with being the head coach.
• Teaching courses within the division with an emphasis in teaching Recreation Intercollegiate Athletic Courses and other courses in the division.
• Instruct and assist in the growth and success of a diverse population of students through careful preparation of course materials effective teaching methodologies and informed critical feedback on assignments and discussions.
• Develop culturally relevant course content culturally responsive pedagogical techniques and effective practices forengaging students who are diverse.
• Active participation in departmental duties including attending department meetings campus committee involvementand all other functions relating to the assignment.
• The position includes assignments in the evenings and weekends for the COS Baseball program and/or teaching assignments.

Minimum Qualifications

The candidate must meet the following criteria. (The degree must generally be from an institution accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges or the equivalent).

• Masters Degree in physical education exercise science education with an emphasis in physical education kinesiology physiology of exercise or adaptive physical education; OR
• Bachelors Degree in any of the above; AND
• Masters Degree in life science dance physiology health education recreation administration or physical therapy; OR

• Theequivalent(established via the COS equivalency process see note below.
• AND

• Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic social economic cultural disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Job Required Core System Competency

The candidate must also demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic socioeconomic cultural disability gender identity sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds of community college students pursuant to Title 5 53022.

Desirable Qualifications

• Four 4 years of successful head coaching experience at the high school; community college or fouryear collegelevelorfour4yearsof successfulassistantcoachingexperienceatthecommunitycollegeorfouryearcollegelevel.
• Teaching experience at the adult secondary and/or postsecondary Ievel within the area of assignment.
• Abilityto coordinate and direct an academic support plan for the studentathlete population served in the COSbaseball program.
• Evidenceofsuccessfulbaseballcoachingexperience.
• Abilitytocoordinateanoffseasonstrength and conditioning program for baseball studentathletes.
• Demonstrated ability in studentathlete recruitment practice planning and program administration.
• Commitmentto taking an active role in the student learning outcome process and participatory governance structures at the Sequoias Community College District.
• Experience in and/or a commitment to working with students from diverse cultural ethnic socioeconomic academicand disability backgrounds.
• Ability to participate in collaborative relationships with students faculty and staff.
• Experience in and/or having an interest in contemporary instructional methods.
