Job Description

FullTime and NonExempt;8 Hours/Day; 252 Days/Year; 12 Months/Year; Grade FF

General Responsibilities

The work of the Auto Parts Clerk includes a combination of general clerical tasks in maintaining the parts inventory and entry level mechanical work in an automotive repair shop.

Education and Experience

Completion of a high school education or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) and some experience as an auto parts clerk; or any combination of education and experience that would provide the above knowledge skill and ability.

Essential Job Functions

  • Orders receives stores and issues spare and replacement parts used in the auto repair shop.
  • Maintains records on parts inventory verifies invoices for purchased parts assigns purchase order numbers and enters information on inventory control cards.
  • Contacts vendors to obtain price quotes and to check on availability or substitution information on needed stock.
  • Maintains cleanliness and order in the parts room through tasks such as arranging supply boxes sweeping and trash disposal.
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs on a regular basis.
  • Performs related work as required.
