Job Description

Job Title: Summer School Dean

Temporary Position Duration of Summer School

(July 7 2025 August 1 2025 8:00 a.m. 1.30 p.m.

YouthBuild Philadelphia Charter School is a tuitionfree public charter high school with a singular focus on supporting youth aged 1720 who have been pushed out of traditional schools. During our 1year alternative program Youthbuild facilitates a warm loving culture that uses a variety of structures to build community such as a restorativejustice approach to discipline weekly community meetings and schoolwide service projects. Students are empowered to attain their high school diploma and vocational certifications while receiving unconditional support by the staff around them. The Opportunity:

The YouthBuild Summer School Dean partners with the summer school staff to ensure that YouthBuild Philadelphia has a culture of high standards (respect excellence and perseverance). The Dean is responsible for assisting students with their arrival dismissal classroom transitions and conflict resolution through restorative practices. The Dean will work with the Summer School Director and staff to ensure that all YouthBuild students achieve academic and socialemotional success. This role requires frequent standing and regular movement throughout the building to engage with students and staff and to ensure a safe and welcoming summer school culture.

  • A Bachelors Degree not required but preferred.
  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience working with adolescents in a schoolsetting preferred.
Requirements

What Youll Do:

You will

  • Under the guidance of the Summer School Director ensure a safe and responsive culture for all students.
  • Be highly present and visible during summer school hours and other schoolled events.
  • Assist in maintaining the summer school databases and with up to date student information on attendance discipline and merit records.
  • Maintaining and monitoring safety by being accessible and visible in hallways classrooms during arrival/dismissal of students.
  • Track student progress give frequent actionable feedback to students and communicate student progress to the greater community through PowerSchool.
  • Support student discipline with a restorative justice model.
  • Assist with school wide communication including summer school culture expectations and disciplinary hearing information.
  • Model effective appropriate engagement with all students at all times operating with warmth and high expectations.
  • Work enthusiastically with young people who are learning to be change agents in the community.
  • Work in interdepartmental teams to support the success of a group of students as they move through summer school programming.
  • Attend a one day training the last week in June to prepare for Summer Programming.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Summer School Director or School Principal.

What We Offer You:

  • A competitive hourly rate for Summer School of $35.00 per hour.
  • 1 hour of sick time per every 40 hours worked.
