Job Description

The Ohio Attorney Generals Office is currently seeking an experienced and motivated candidate for an Assistant Attorney General position in the Health Care Fraud Section.

The Attorney Generals Office battles fraud in the health care industry through the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit and the Workers Compensation Fraud Unit.The Medicaid Fraud Control Unit is responsible for the investigation and prosecution of health care providers accused of defrauding the states Medicaid program.In addition this Unit enforces Ohios Patient Abuse and Neglect Law which protects the mentally and physically disabled and the elderly from neglect and abuse in Ohios longterm care facilities.The Workers Compensation Fraud Unit is responsible for prosecuting claimants employers and health care providers who defraud the Ohio Workers Compensation Program.

Successful candidates will work independently and possess excellent research and writing skills. Criminal Law experience is a plus. This position will work a hybrid inperson/remote schedule. There may be changes to this schedule based on training and operational needs. The headquarter location is our Columbus Office.

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

Prosecute present cases to the grand jury and handle all trial and appellate matters related to allegations of fraud against the Medicaid program and patient abuse and neglect in care facilities; as well as allegations of fraud against the Ohio Workers Compensation program.

Appears in public or private formal or informal settings to discuss law and policy; fulfills exclusive authorization of Attorney General to practice law on behalf of state personnel

Enforces state laws and regulations concerning health safety welfare crime and civil statutes

Drafts and reviews legal documents (e.g. motions briefs etc.

Drafts and responds to discovery

Works closely with Medicaid Special Agents throughout investigation and prosecution of cases

Assigns technical personnel (e.g. investigators) to collect evidence and data for case work for cases involving Medicaid fraud and patient abuse and neglect in preparation for court or presentation to grand jury

May require travel; may work varied hours.

Licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio pursuant to Section 4705.01 of the Ohio Revised Code.
