Reports to: Site Principal Secondary Summer School
Supervises: None
Qualifications:
- Hold a valid Oklahoma teacher certificate.
- Meet all certification requirements including teaching area endorsement in the State of Oklahoma.
- Satisfy all district requirements with regard to physical health and citizenship.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the School Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Position Goal:To lead students toward the fulfillment of their potential by translating the district curriculum goals and objectives into learning experiences for each student.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Plans for and executes instructional strategies that encourage the development of critical thinking problem solving and performance skills relating to short and longterm objectives.
- Develops instructional plans that are in alignment with state standards and JPS standards and objectives.
- Teach and facilitate the use of the online learning management system for students.
- Provide guidance for student expectations and communication with the teacher.
- Manage student progress toward learning goals.
- Provide direct instruction for students in classroom as needed.
- Communicate with students and parents about student progress toward learning goals via email and phone contact.
- Communicate with administrators about needs and student status.
- Plans consistently to address students diverse learning needs.
- Prepares materials and equipment prior to the start of the lesson.
- Monitors the behavior of all students during work time as well as transitions to breaks and school dismissal times.
- Maintains student dignity when discussing misbehaviors.
- Follows the procedures practices and guidelines outlined by the school district state and federal laws intended to keep students healthy and safe.
- Develops lesson plans based on student data.
- Plans with other members of the team and contributes to team meetings in meaningful ways.
- Maintains substitute plans that include class rosters seating charts behavior plans emergency plans and identification of diverse learning groups.
- Provides timely feedback from assessments to students.
- Conveys a positive view of learning to students on a consistent basis.
- Embeds literacy into lessons.
- Embeds mathematical practices and science process skills daily into lessons.
- Participates in learning opportunities to understand current state standards.
- Uses higher level questioning techniques and scaffolds questioning when necessary.
- Engages students in active learning and uses a variety of strategies to support learning.
- Gives clear and concise directions and models the desired skill before students attempt independent practice.
- Adjust lessons based on daily feedback from student assessment.
- Connects current learning to prior learning.
- Accommodates and modifies for specific populations of students (SPED ELD Gifted).
- Exhibits consistent reliabilitybased patterns of behavior (punctuality dependability complying with timelines and deadlines).
- Interacts with students colleagues and families in a positive and professional manner.
- Finds ways to contribute to the profession.
- Contributes to collaboration constructively.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Employment Terms: May 28 2025 June 30 2025; 5days per week at 5.5 hours 1st & 2nd Semesters; Community Education Temporary Contract
