TITLE: Student Relations Supervisor

LOCATION: Urbana High School

SUPERVISOR: This position reports directly to the Assistant Principal of Student Engagement.

JOB SUMMARY: The responsibility of the Student Relations Supervisor is to assist the Assistant Principal of Student Engagement with creating a safe and secure school environment for students staff and the community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.

  1. Provide daily supervision in the student detention/suspension room cafeteria hallways restrooms and parking lot as assigned by the Assistant Principal of Student Engagement.
  2. Document and communicate all student disciplinary issues and situations to the Assistant Principal of Student Engagement including the relevant details.
  3. Possess and maintain knowledge of the Districts policies and procedures pertaining to students.
  4. Possess and maintain knowledge of the contents of the Student/Parent Handbook.
  5. Assist the District and its administrators and staff in enforcing all policies in the Student/Parent Handbook.
  6. Assist the District its administrators and staff in promoting positive school/community relations.
  7. Act as a liaison between the District parents and the community.
  8. Provide leadership and direction to students and assist them with developing a positive selfimage.
  9. Serve as a witness in student disciplinary proceedings.
  10. Assist law enforcement in all matters associated with student discipline student and staff safety and building security in the district.
  11. Assist with duties assigned to the Assistant Principal of Student Engagement.
  12. Perform all additional duties as assigned by the Assistant Principal of Student Engagement.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Must meet all requirements for the position as designated by the ISBE
  • Perferred Paraprofessional Certificate 60 hours of college credit or passing scores on a Basic Skills test

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with students staff and the public.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding student records.
  • Ability to react quickly and professionally to student behavior/conduct issues.
  • Strong student supervisory skills and ability to keep order within areas supervised.

EVALUATION: This jobs performance will be evaluated perprovisions of the Boards policy on the evaluation of support personnel.

NOTE:This is a position within the collective bargaining unit and is not an administrative position. This is a nonexempt position.
