Texas A&M University seeks an Assistant Research Scientist to work in College Station Texas. The Assistant Research Scientist develops writes and coordinates scholarly publications and presentations in English that integrate political science theories with science and technology public policy research; collaborates with Institute for Science Technology and Public Policy (ISTPP) colleagues and researchers from multiple disciplines to coauthor manuscripts; participates in proposal writing for sponsored funding; contributes to completion of funded research tasks; and may direct student workers on specific research tasks.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Education : PhD in political science with emphasis on decision making processes and political psychology and specialization in political psychology.
Minimum Experience required: Appropriate PhD and experience either through academic or professional experience with: designing public opinion surveys related to political science theories and science and technology policy; embedded and conjoint experiments; conducting experiments online or in a social science lab; integrating survey results with relevant GIS data and analyzing the resulting datasets utilizing multivariate and multilevel techniques as part of preparing manuscripts and reports to funders; coauthoring papers and presenting them at academic conferences; publishing articles in peerreviewed public policy journals as well as interdisciplinary journals through collaborations with researchers in science and technology disciplines such as engineering; identifying and developing theoretical narratives research objectives and tasks for multidisciplinary research proposals that are submitted to federal funding agencies.
Responsibilities
Research Scholarship:
Prepares research manuscripts presentations and project reports (as described above) in English both as lead author and as coauthor. Activities include identifying applicable theories literature and methodologies; conducting analyses evaluating the results; and writing the documents. Also seeks and forms collaborations with researchers outside of ISTPP.
Research Projects:
Participates in ISTPP research projects including contributing to overall Institute research agenda designing portions of survey instruments especially embedded and conjoint experiments managing data and as needed directing student workers in research tasks. Contributes to grant implementation as a member of the research team.
Proposal Development:
Participates in preparing research grant proposals and as appropriate leads portions of proposal preparation.
Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.
Other Requirements and Factors:
This is a fulltime staff position with a typical workday schedule of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm in the office space provided
