Job Summary:
To clean and perform routine housekeeping and maintenance of district buildings to provide a safe and clean learning environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned.
floors: vacuum sweep dust mop wash strip wax and buff.
and clean windows walls chalkboards trashcans water fountains and sinks.
furniture fixtures and wood work.
trash receptacles and pick up litter in and around buildings.
and stock bathrooms. Change and clean shower curtains. Scrub and disinfect the shower rooms.
and clean displays boards artwork frames and displays. Perform light repairs as needed.
setup and breakdown of furniture in cafeteria gymnasium auditorium or other spaces for events.
minor maintenance problems. Handle minor repairs directly. Refer carpentry plumbing electrical and mechanical repairs to maintenance staff as needed.
responsibility for the closing of the building each day and for determining that all doors and windows are secured and all lights are turned off.
American flag on an as needed basis.
minor routine maintenance of electrical (replace light bulbs) heating and ventilating vents and fixtures (i.e. changing filters) locks (i.e. oiling) and lockers.
all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities by reporting known safety hazards in the school immediately to supervisor.
building and grounds to ensure standards for cleanliness and safety are maintained.
routine grass trimming leaf raking and maintenance of planting beds on properties.
snow from immediate walks and exits and add sand and salt as needed.
to support students and staff during evacuation drills and emergencies.
supervisor when he/she may be away from the premises.
be assigned to evening or day shift depending upon the needs of the employer.
confidentiality in all aspects of the job according to state federal and Springfield District policies.
Supervision Received: Reports to receives daily work assignments and is evaluated by Physical Plant Supervisor.
Supervisory Responsibilities: No supervisory duties. May train or assist coworkers.
Qualification Requirements:
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each job function in an efficient and compliant manner. : High school degree or equivalent plus 1 to 2 years of relevant experience preferred or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.
: Commercial cleaning experience preferred. Experience waxing and stripping floors using a scrubber floor buffer commercial vacuum and other floor machines also preferred as well as knowledge and skill related to routine housekeeping and maintenance work.
Skills: Ability to read a limited number of two and threesyllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
Skills: Good basic mathematical skills including ability to perform operations using units of weight measurement volume and distance.
Ability/Mental Requirements: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
& Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate courteously efficiently and effectively with a variety of individuals including students faculty administrators parents and representatives of outside organizations. Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with peers subordinates supervisors parents and outside agencies. Ability to effectively resolve conflicts.
