**Position Overview:**
The Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization Administrator is responsible for the deployment management and operational support of virtualization solutions within the companys IT infrastructure with a specific focus on Red Hat OpenShift and its ecosystem. The role involves ensuring high availability superb performance and security of applications running in the virtualized environment.
**Key Responsibilities:**
Install configure and maintain Red Hat OpenShift clusters including the underlying virtualization platform and associated storage solutions.
Administer and monitor the health performance and security of the OpenShift environment including nodes pods and services.
Design and implement strategies for deployment scaling redundancy highavailability and disaster recovery.
Collaborate with development teams to facilitate containerization of applications and services ensuring best practices are followed.
Automate routine tasks through scripting and the use of automation tools like Ansible Jenkins or similar.
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for system installations configurations upgrades and best practices.
Resolve complex issues involving the infrastructure including root cause analysis and implementing preventive measures.
Ensure compliance with security policies and procedures including regular system updates and patches.
Participate in capacity planning and performance tuning to optimize the virtualization environment for operational efficiency.
Collaborate with crossfunctional IT teams to support continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
Stay current with the latest developments in OpenShift Kubernetes and containerization technologies.
Provide technical support and training to IT staff and endusers when necessary.
Participate in an oncall rotation and provide offhours support as needed.
Install configure and maintain Linux operating systems across the organization while ensuring optimal performance.
**Qualifications:**
Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or related field or equivalent work experience.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in administering Red Hat OpenShift and virtualization technologies.
Strong understanding of Kubernetes and container orchestration.
Proficiency in virtualization platforms such as Red Hat Virtualization (RHV) VMware or KVM.
Experience with automation/configuration management using Ansible Puppet Chef or similar.
Familiarity with CI/CD tools and version control systems like Git.
Knowledge of Linux/Unix administration and scripting (e.g. Bash Python).
Experience with monitoring solutions like Prometheus Grafana or Nagios.
Strong problemsolving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred certifications: Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or other relevant certifications.
