POSITION SUMMARY:


The Manager Pharmacy Clinical Services is responsible for the oversight of all clinical pharmacy operations. He/she serves as a liaison between pharmacy nursing and the medical staff ensuring coordinated cost effective compassionate patient care. Pharmacy Clinical Specialists report to the Clinical Manager. The pharmacy clinical manager oversees a variety of committees and responsibilities organization and delegation of clinical tasks projects research for the department organization of clinical staff scheduling as well as precepting and/or mentoring new staff pharmacy residents and pharmacy students.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPEaccredited College of Pharmacy. Advanced training (fellowship residency and/or board certification preferred)

Required length of experience: Three 3 years previous clinical pharmacy experience

Required licensure certification and/or registry: Registered pharmacist licensed by the Ohio Board of Pharmacy

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Has direct oversight over all clinical pharmacy operations including coordinating activities and schedules of the clinical specialists
  • Has an innovative approach to pharmacy practice to better utilize pharmacy services to meet patient needs
  • Actively involved in business plan development for new services
  • Participates organizes and facilitates development of treatment guidelines and protocols
  • Identifies opportunities for cost savings and implements change
  • Actively involved in hospital committees including but not limited to Pharmacy and Therapeutics Blood Management Hospital QI MSQI and Medical Staff Dept meetings
  • Identifies and implements opportunities for improving patient safety
  • Reviews physician order sets prior to Medical Staff approval
  • Functions as a clinical pharmacy specialist when needed.
