Job Description

Community Advisor Flourish A Whole Family Approach One Stop Shop

Location: Based in Kirkcaldy / Community Outreach within Fife

Parttime 26hrs

Reference: SA775

Temporary Fixed Term until March 2026

Salary:pro rata

Due to receiving additional funding we have a new and exciting Community Advisor vacancy to join our existing team at the Fife One Stop Shop. This role focusing specifically on the delivery and the expansion of our Flourish Programme.

Flourish is delivered as part of Our Minds Matter a framework funded by Fife Health and Social Care Partnership to support children and young peoples emotional wellbeing in Fife.

Flourish aims to provide increased support to parents and carers of young people up to 26 years old who have neurodevelopmental differences. Over the next year with the support from this role Scottish Autism will be increasing its support through the programme to support children and young people directly alongside supporting their parents and carers.

Within this role you will work alongside the One Stop Shop Senior Community Advisor and wider stakeholders to;

  • Provide information advice support and guidance to neurodivergent children and young people families and interested professionals.
  • Offer support to neurodivergent children and young people and their parents and carers through the One Stop Shops Flourish Programme.
  • Deliver and facilitate a range of opportunities to neurodivergent children and young people and their parents and carers.
  • Maintain relevant resources that are accessible and available to those who access the Flourish Programme.
  • Promote awareness and understanding of the needs of neurodivergent children and young people and their families within the Fife community.
  • Collaboratively identify areas of development to ensure neurodivergent children and young people and their familys needs are met.

The successful candidate will have;

  • Lived Experience and/or autism practice with the knowledge to apply theory into practice.
  • Experience of Early Years and/or Youth Work.
  • Experience of engaging with children and young people through a variety of means such as play.
  • Contemporary knowledge and understanding of autism autistic people and their families across the lifespan.
  • Experience of supporting complex situations where a person might be experiencing heightened levels of distress or confusion.
  • Active listening skills and able to respond empathetically.
  • Ability to translate complex theoretical knowledge into accessible and practical advice.
  • Ability to work in a diverse range of environments to deliver and facilitate support appropriate to the needs of different audiences such as autistic people or parents and carers.
  • Ability to selfmanage and to organise diverse work streams.
  • Ability to collaborate and work closely with others.
  • Share Scottish Autisms values; Collaboration Compassion Change Makers Contribution.
