You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe Patient Care Assistant (PCA) assists nursing staff with delegated tasks of direct and indirect patientcare which support and complement nursing practice under the supervision of a registered nurse. At aminimum the PCA carries out designated skills that are within those functions of a certified nursingassistant as defined by the Arizona State Board of Nursing. The incumbent must demonstrate knowledgeof the principles of growth and development through the life span and appropriately interpret informationrelative to the patients agespecific needs. The PCA communicates data reflective of the patients statusand delegated tasks and/or functions. The incumbent works flexible hours which may include days evenings nights holidays and weekends.
Minimum Education and/or Experience Required: (Education Requirements and Experience):
High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
Additional Experience and/or Qualifications: (Has Achieved Competency in the Following Areas Job Knowledge and Additional Considerations):
Graduation from a vocational program for nursing assistants preferred. Availability to work flexible hours which may include days evenings nights holidays and weekends. Ability to adapt to unpredictablesituations within the patient care setting. Relevant experience preferred. Strong computer skills preferred. PCAs in the Inpatient Neurology Unit must be able to perform all duties in the Epilepsy monitoring unit within 90 days of hire/transfer to the unit.
Licensure/Certification Required:
Completion of a Nursing Assistant training program. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification through Arizona Board of Nursing is required upon hire. Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) preferred required within12 months of hire. Basic Life Support certification is required upon hire and must be valid for 90 days orgreater from start date. Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) competency. (Employees with a start date prior to December 31 2018 LNA is required at time of first renewal.
Minimum 6 months acute care experience preferred.
Full-Time
