70 Group Work
  • Reaching out to clients (potential clients).
  • Coordinating meetings with clients.
  • Scoping the project for the client.
  • Delivering scope of work to the client.
  • Working collaboratively with their team to design project timelines and produce deliverables.
  • Communicating and negotiating project creep with the client.
20 Individual Work
  • Completing project roles and responsibilities for the client to deliver project outcomes.
  • Communicating with the client to further identify clients real needs and expectations.
10 Weekly Meetings
  • Meeting weekly to provide updates on client work as well as any updates on the communication between the team and the clients.
  • Continual learning in weekly meetings we debrief the work being done for the client the communication with the client the clients real needs and any additional things that need to be discussed. There is also mentoring and advising that takes place during these meetings to help students grow and further develop their skills and abilities. Making them better equipped and prepared for the workforce ahead of them.

Work Schedule
Flexible hours between 8am 5pm Monday through Friday. Hours not to exceed 20 weekly.

Position Overview
The mission of the University of Kansas School of Business is to advance and impart business knowledge and prepare students to be leaders who positively contribute to business and society.

Jayhawk Consulting (a program of the KU School of Business Center for Entrepreneurship) is a team of students who provide advisory and consulting services to various clients from the community. These projects vary in scope and size and represent very real challenges organizations are facing and for which they are seeking Jayhawk Consulting services.

The team is made up of qualified students who express curiosity creativity general business knowledge and responsiveness. They work up to eighteen hours a week during the semester and gain valuable advisory consulting and professional experience by executing marketing strategy and other projects. Most importantly they gain real world experience working with clients through this experiential learning opportunity.
Employees of Jayhawk Consulting can expect their networks to expand given the nature of the relationships they will be expected to build with their clients.

Position Requirements
During the semester term of the appointment the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1 have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2 be preenrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3 be enrolled in summer session or 4 be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).

Employment Conditions
1 Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.

2 This is an hourly/nonexempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/nonexempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.
