Summer Intern MACHINIST PATTERNMAKER APPRENTICE
POSITION: Entry level student apprentice opportunity earn and learn
LOCATION: Victaulic Technical Center Alburtis Pa.
REPORTS TO:Manager Tech Center Foundry Tools

VICTAULIC TECHNICAL CENTER:
The Technical Center builds and maintains fully 3D machined Foundry Tooling for Victaulic facilities worldwide.
JOB SUMMARY:
This is an entry level opportunity to learn a skilled craft by combining OJT and locally available formal education. Favorable background would include any National Institute of Metalworking Skills completions any community college or undergraduate degree studies. Either an Associate of Applied Science Precision Machining or a Journeyman Machinist certification would be a common goal.
Shop floor skills and developmental activities would include:
- Readblueprints engineering drawings specifications and interpret GD&T
- Use micrometers calipers indicators and all commonly applied measuring tools with familiarity of close tolerance dimensioning.
- Utilization of math functions including trigonometry describing 3D shapes both manually and within CAD environments is fundamental.
- Experience in Solidworks and Mastercam modeling and toolpath software areprimary assets and would be valuable tools to learn.
- Set upand operation of CNCmachines including writing andediting G code and M code programsas required. Proficiency in taking measurements detecting malfunctions troubleshooting processes adjusting and editing with continuous improvement in mind are fundamental tasks to master.
- Other related tasks would include:
- Operate an overhead crane and drive a forklift.
- CNC Machinery experience includes 3 axis vertical mill (primarily) and lathe operations.
- Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
- Maintain equipment using preventative maintenance.
- Maintain an organized and clean work environment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Required toliftupto 50 lbs.
- Moderate walking standing lifting carrying bending kneeling and reaching. Work around moving objects and with machinery with moving parts.
SKILLS AND EDUCATION:
- Any Precision Machining experience would be mandatory.
- One year or more of postsecondary learning experience or continuing education would be beneficial as a learning base to build on.
- High School graduate will be considered.
- An abilityto work well with others is a must.
HOURS OF OPERATION:
- Dayshift:40 Hours. Overtime as required.
