What We Offer
The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The hiring range for this position is $25.00 $28.00/hour. We also offer generous benefits for fulltime employees which include but are not limited to:

Location & Schedule
In this position you can expect to work from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The home base for this position will be 5440 Roslyn St. Denver CO 80216.

The Division of Transportation Operations is responsible for maintaining and operating transportation infrastructure. Sections within the Division include curbside management traffic signals signs and markings system operations and managing the street lighting franchise this position will assist and oversee street sign installation repair and maintenance; employees may be asked to assist with other groups and contribute to functions such as specialty markings long line painting and crosswalks.
Specifically as the Traffic Operations Technician I you will:
Work in the installation construction maintenance and repair of traffic control signs and pavement markings.
Remove damaged or old signs and sign posts break up concrete bases prepare and pour concrete cut metal poles and bases and install new posts and signs.
Ensure that street signs are adequately visible which includes trimming trees and bushes.
Perform various tasks associated with street pavement marking projects which includes measurements lays out stencils stripes paints and maintenance of lane lines center lines crosswalks turn arrows stop bars railroad/light rail crossings parking stalls curbs airfield marking and other pavement markings.
Remove conflicting markings with grinder or road milling equipment.
Operate a variety of equipment used in the installation and maintenance of traffic control examples including but not limited to: paint stripers paint mixers paint guns line removers forklifts compressors drill presses post pounders post pullers grinders and augers.
Perform equipment pretrip inspections (checking fluid levels observing leaks monitoring condition of hoses and belts checking tire pressure ensuring brake lights and lights work and performing other related inspections).
Operate equipment and use tools to ensure that they are secure clean and in proper working order which includes maintenance and repair.
Occasionally assist in the design fabrication and construction of traffic signs and other signs as designated by the unit through the use of computers and other graphics equipment.
Observe all common safety practices associated with tools and equipment monitoring work environment for safety and hazards and ensuring safety for self and others.
Place and remove barricades cones and other traffic control and safety devices in and around work areas for construction and maintenance projects in accordance with traffic regulation requirements.
Log record and create daily work reports for management.
As needed may be required to be oncall to address emergent needs.
What Youll Bring

Work experience driving and utilizing a CDL B.

Knowledge in flagging road closures and work zone procedures
Ability to work a variable schedule due to possible emergencies and inclement weather
Attention detail in the field and data entry
Basic computer skills such as MS Office and inventory management software (Cartograph)
Required Minimum Qualifications
Education requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED HiSET or TASC Certificate.
Experience Requirement: One 1 year of traffic signs and markings experience OR general construction experience specific to commercial industrial or civil which must include six 6 months of experience operating light to medium sized equipment.
Education/Experience Equivalency: A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the minimum education and experience requirements.
Licenses/Certifications (licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment):
This job requires driving. Requires a valid Drivers License at the time of application.
Requires a valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL B) with appropriate endorsements at the time of application.
Obtain IMSA (International Municipal Signal Association) Work Zone Traffic Control Safety Certification OR ATSSA Traffic Control Technician Certification or equivalent by the end of the probationary period.
Obtain IMSA Signs & Pavement Markings Technician Level I Certification or equivalent within 1 year of hire or promotion.
