Main Purpose of Job

Would you like to work in Frederick Located less than one hour from Washington D.C and city of Frederick is surrounded by mountain views and scenic landscapes alongside unique specialtyshops galleries museums and theaters and vibrant Main Street communities.

We are seeking a motivated individual to Manage our Frederick Branch Office of the Taxpayer ServicesDivision.

This position plans organizes and supervises the work of subordinate staff which may includeprofessional and clerical workers. Responsibilities also include providing assistance to taxpayersbusinesses and tax preparers who contact the local branch office by phone in person and leave and staff coverage of the branch office; maintain and manage the daily operation of theoffice along with regular communication with landlords for its ongoing facilities maintenance. This positioninterprets ensures and promotes compliance with the tax laws and regulations of the State as well assets goals and oversees the workflow of the branch office. This position is considered one of the agencysemergency essential personnel.

Please note:Employee must be able to work in a fulltime capacity: Monday through Friday from 8:00 a. m. to 5:00 pm.The nature of the position requires that the employee be able to travel within the State of Maryland andprovide their own transportation to visit various branch offices located within the State of Maryland.Employee must be able to tolerate an occasional uncomfortable or unpleasant experiences presented byupset or irate taxpayers.Work may involve special physical demands such as lifting 25 to 35 pounds climbing ladders deliveringsupplies etc.Employees are unable to prepare tax returns outside of the requirements of the job or work for privateaccounting companies.Leave may be limited during certain times of the year due to high volume events projects or special
assignments. Evening and weekend work may be required during peak times of the year.
The position is considered one of the agencys emergency essential personnel.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Six years of professional work experience in auditing accounting tax law general management or customer service. One year of this professional work experience must have involved supervising revenue administrators accountants or auditors or providing legal advice requiring the interpretation of tax laws in the capacity of a tax professional or having been in a responsible administrative or management capacity.

Notes:

  1. Candidates may substitute the possession of an associates degree for two years of the required experience in auditing accounting tax law general management or customer service.
  2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a bachelors degree from an accredited college or university for four years of auditing accounting general management and customer service experience.
  3. Candidates may substitute 30 college credits from an accredited college or university for one year of the required experience up to three years of experience in auditing accounting tax law general management or customer service.
  4. Candidates may substitute graduate education in an academic field related to the required experience from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
  5. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) License for six years of the required experience.
  6. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher as a noncommissioned officer in accounting and budget classification or accounting and budget specialty codes in the tax examining field of work on a yearforyear basis for the required experience.

** For education obtainedoutside of the U.S. you will be required to provide proof of the equivalentAmericaneducation as determined by a foreign credential evaluationservice. If you possess a degree obtained outsideof the United States pleasesubmit a detailed coursebycourse evaluation report from one of evaluating members identified at OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
