Job Description Summary

Join GE Vernova working at Dogger Bank Wind farm team as a Lead Electrical Commissioning Authorised Technician. We are seeking enthusiastic individuals who are experienced in leading teams who are installing maintaining and troubleshooting advanced electrical systems on the latest range of offshore wind turbines focusing on both Low Voltage (LV) and High Voltage (HV)
This role offers a clear trajectory for professional growth with an expectation for the successful candidates to elevate to a Commissioning Supervisor role showcasing full proficiency in commissioning LV and HV equipment and leading highly skilled teams offshore We will enable this by offering continuous learning and skill enhancement in LV and HV systems and leadership skills.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Commissioning & Testing:
    • Manage offshore teams and execute installation routine maintenance and repairs on LV and HV electrical systems including converters transformers switchgear circuit breakers and associated components.
    • Accurately read and interpret electrical schematics wiring diagrams method statements and specifications while supervising technical teams
    • Ensure strict adherence to safety regulations and industry standards throughout all installation and maintenance operations.
    • Support senior engineers in the commissioning of electrical systems and equipment.
    • Conduct thorough precommissioning tests and inspections to ensure systems are serviceready.
    • Provide comprehensive documentation of all commissioning activities delivering detailed reports to the engineering team.
  • Troubleshooting:
    • Expertly diagnose and resolve electrical issues including faults in LV and HV equipment.
    • Utilize advanced testing equipment to identify and efficiently rectify electrical problems.
    • Collaborate with engineering teams to tackle complex technical challenges.
  • Health & Safety:
    • Uphold all health and safety protocols to maintain a secure working environment.
    • Conduct risk assessments and implement effective control measures for electrical tasks.
    • Supervise and mentor Competent technicians and Authorised Technicians to ensure safe systems of work and develop their skills
    • Engage in safety training sessions and actively contribute to fostering a culture of safety within the team.

Qualifications: Required

  • Education:Electrical or Wind technician apprenticeship diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience:Experience with LV and HV electrical systems;

Qualifications Desired

  • Experience leading teams working on wind farms or in offshore industries or as an authorise person (AP) in an MV or HV industry.
  • Demonstrated expertise in highvoltage switching operations with handson experience in 11 kV and 33 kV systems.
    • Deep understanding of electrical principles and systems.
    • Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics.
    • Extensive handson experience with electrical testing and diagnostic tools.
    • Excellent problemsolving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
    • Ability to lead mentor and train teams
  • Relevant electrical certifications are preferred (e.g. Certified Electrical Technician High Voltage Safety Certification).
