Job Description

Salary Information

Compensation plans are based on a multistep progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade.

**A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies**

Nature of Work

The Grants Administrator is responsible for the comprehensive management of allfederal state local public and private grants for Montgomery County. This includesidentifying funding opportunities developing grant programs writing and submittingapplications and managing the life cycle of awarded grants. The role demands a deepunderstanding of grant complianceparticularly under 2 CFR 200 (UniformGuidance)and a demonstrated record of successful grant acquisition position requires highlevel coordination with department heads external partnersand auditors to ensure that all grantrelated activities align with regulatory financial andprogrammatic standards. The work is performed with significant independence andrequires strong judgment organizational ability and adherence to professional standardsin public administration.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Public Administration Business Administration Planning or arelated field. At least five 5 years of professional experience in grant writing and administrationincluding two 2 years in a supervisory or lead capacity. Valid Alabama drivers license. Demonstrated success in securing and managing largescale grants including federalfunding.

Special Requirements

Availability to attend occasional evening or weekend public meetings or grantrelatedevents. Must be able to work collaboratively across departments and with the public in aprofessional setting.


Additional Information

Researches identifies applies for and secures grant funding opportunities to supportCounty programs and priorities.
Develops and manages written accounting procedures and internal controls related togrants.
Prepares submits and tracks grant applications amendments and budget modificationsin compliance with grantor guidelines and County policies.
Ensures full compliance with federal regulations including 2 CFR 200 as well asapplicable state and local laws. Prepare and submit reports i.e. Treasury Portal monitors and evaluates active grantprograms ensuring accurate reporting of expenditures revenues and performanceoutcomes.
Works with auditors on the preparation of the Schedule of Expenditures of FederalAwards (SEFA) and responds to audit inquiries.
Maintains detailed records of grants including award letters contracts financialreports and programmatic deliverables.
Serves as liaison between County departments and granting agencies providingtechnical assistance and oversight to subrecipients to ensure project timelines andcompliance standards are met.
Investigates relevant legislation and funding trends to align new applications withevolving public priorities.
Supports the supervision of grant consultants and others involved in the grant process.
Prepares regular reports for County leadership on grant performance opportunitiesrisks and compliance.
Attends public meetings or intergovernmental working groups as needed.
Perform all other duties and tasks as assigned
