Description
Answers service calls for corrective maintenance on various utility plant equipment. Is responsible to the supervisor for maintaining current repair parts inventories and for the procurement of required mechanical equipment and parts. Demonstrates solid knowledge of all utility mechanical systems. Performs all assigned responsibilities in a safe thorough and timely manner. Maintains a valid state issued drivers license. Adheres to all Mayo Clinic and departmental policies and procedures.
Qualifications
EDUCATION: High school diploma or Graduation Equivalency Diploma required; trade school preferred. EXPERIENCE: Two years experience in mechanical repair and three years experience in repair of building equipment and systems.
COMPETENCY: Provides transcripts indicating prior attendance in classes seminars workshops and other continuing education as appropriate to display an effort to enhance professional knowledge and job skills specific to utility plant mechanical systems operations.
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Must be able to understand operate adjust and maintain the following systems:
Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning building automation chilled water and heating water distribution plumbing compressed air steam water softeners emergency power generation and hydraulic balers and compactors.
Must be able to understand and operate the following equipment:
Diesel engines and pumps submersible pumps horizontal and vertical pumps and motors boilers chillers emergency power generators switchgear air compressors electric and gas welders grinders saws drills and presses computers and pneumatic controls.
ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS:
Must be able to work days evenings or nights including Holidays. Must be available to be oncall. Must be able to respond to work with 45 minutes from the time of the call if oncall. Must be willing to respond to emergencies at any time if at all possible. Physical requirements will be standing stooping bending lifting pulling climbing reaching and pushing. EPA technician certification for refrigerant usage and recovery preferred.
Valid drivers license required.
