Job Description
Responsibilities
Noblis MSDs mission is to support the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWCPD) and their missions to enable research development test and evaluation acquisition engineering systems integration inservice and fleet engineering with cybersecurity comprehensive logistics and lifecycle savings. We are looking to hire a Mechanical Engineer to provide engineering technical logistics and obsolescence support to U.S. Navy U.S. Coast Guard and Foreign Military Sales ships and vessels related to the steam systems and equipment.
The Mechanical Engineer position will design evaluate plan test and operate mechanical equipment and systems for commercial government military and/or scientific uses. The candidates primary duties and responsibilities include:
- Creating mechanical designs and drawings
- Writing precise calculations
- Creating and testing prototypes for functionality
- Reengineering products when problems are found and recalculating for the return of products to full functionality
- Preparing reports and documentation for leadership
- Perform obsolescence evaluation and assist with finding replacements
This is a program with opportunity for growth and advancement. While the opportunity for hybrid work is available candidates need to be local to attend meetings complete in office as required. Also this is a long term contract.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university and 8 years of experience in Steam and Auxiliary systems including mechanical/electrical system design repair installation modification operation maintenance and testing of Hull Mechanical & Electrical (HM&E) systems. Shipboard experience Navy or Maritime is a plus. Or a High School degree and 14 years relevant work expeirence.
- US Citizen with an active DoD security clearance at SECRET level or the ability to obtain one.
- Experience with equipment design principles.
- Familiarity with 2D/3D engineering design & manufacturing tools (AutoCAD SolidWorks Inventor).
- Experience reviewing models and drawings for manufacturability of parts.
- Experience with documentation development including drawings technical manuals (operation assembly troubleshooting and repair) bill of materials.
Desired Qualifications
- 5 years of experience preparing engineering design and installation drawings and supporting calculations and instructions and processes for US Navy Amphibious Ship Steam Propulsion Plants associated equipment piping and systems.
- Experience working with detailed specifications under configuration management
- Experience interfacing directly with US military technical representatives
- Experience working with equipment suppliers and vendors
- Shipboard experience as an operator / maintainer is a plus.
- Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner.

Compensation at Noblis is determined by various factors including but not limited to the combination of education certifications knowledge skills competencies and experience internal and external equity location clearance level as well as contractspecific affordability organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this positionis based on full time status. For part time or oncall staff compensation is proportionately adjusted based on hours worked. While monetary compensation is important its just one component of Noblis total compensation package.
