Title:Job CoachReports To: Transition Coordinatorand Principal
Qualifications: Undergraduate degree certification or diploma in an area related to education vocation mentoring and/or workplace experience preferred.A demonstrated ability to work with children or adults with special needs. Spanish or Portuguese language speaker preferred.A valid drivers license with a safe driving record is required.
Purpose: Under the guidance of the Transition Coordinator theJob Coach will assist students in the acquisition of job skills and their vocational development and will monitor the onthejob performance of students in a number of work settings. The Job Coach will assist in the organization and implementation of vocational/transition programming including data collection and feedback and will provide general support to both the vocational and classroom programs.
Scope of Duties:
- Assist the Transition Coordinator with planning and organizing evaluating instructional activities developing worksite procedures and preparing necessary materials.
- Ensure and maintain a safe and healthy environment.
- Demonstrate the technical skills necessary to assist in the implementation of the program.
- Work to communicate the needs of the students and the vocational program.
- Assist with any communitybased instruction outside the school building through a transition or vocationallens.
- Train and coach the student to meet established employer standards and expectations.
- Work to resolve any obstacles to student work performance such as conflicts with student interactions with coworkers or supervisors student attitudes transitions changes in job expectations et cetera.
- Shiftto indirect monitoring when needed while still modeling appropriate employee behaviors.
- Conduct data collection on behalf of the Transition Coordinator or Classroom Teacher.
- Complete driving training in order to transport students during regular school hours as required.
- Under the direction of the school nurse administer student medications and monitor students health at offcampus work sites as needed.
- Implement appropriate therapeutic strategies as designed by the educational and clinical teams.
- Participate in routine staff professional development or training.
- Maintain student confidentiality.
- Assist classroom teacher as directed when needed and when not involved in vocational activities.
- Participate fully in scheduled supervision meetings.
- Other duties as assigned by the Transition Coordinator Program Principal and Executive Director.
- Candidate must be able to lift forty pounds pass any requisite background (CORI) and fingerprinting (SAFIS) checks for employment and be open to working with verbally and/or physically aggressive students.
