Pay Rate: Standard CBWS Hourly Rate $15/hr). This position is subject to an annual wage increase.


IMPORTANT: STUDENTS MUST HAVE A STATE OR FEDERAL WORK AWARD TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR COMMUNITY BASED WORK STUDY (CBWS) POSITIONS. Student CBWS work eligibility is subject to change due to work award redeterminations over the summer. This means even students who were a chosen applicant for the position may be ineligible to work if they do not have a state/federal work award come Fall 2025. Students who are unsure if they currently have a state or federal work award please contact before applying to find out what type of work award you have.


Description of the Position: (Purpose of the Position):
Tackling Obstacles and Raising College Hopes (TORCH) supports and empowers Northfield students of color youth from lowincome families and firstgeneration college attendees to graduate from high school and pursue future goals. The Middle School TORCH Program Tutor would work with our staff and students to maintain and raise grades in middle school classes and provide academic support particularly in Math.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Tutor middle school students in math
  • Show middle school students how to access and navigate various resources and
    requirements.
  • Build positive relationships with participating students
  • Communicate regularly with TORCH staff regarding any students who are not making progress in their class(es)


Qualifications: (Education/Experience/Skills)

  • Experience tutoring or serving as a Teachers Assistant
  • Knowledge of basic Algebra
  • Basic computer skills are required
  • Familiarity with Google Drive/Documents
  • Expected to be comfortable working with middle school students of diverse backgrounds
  • Selfstarter who can complete tasks each week in a timely and reliable manner
  • Experience with college access programs (participant/volunteer/staff) is helpful but not
    required
