The GIS community holds itself to high standards cognizant that success can be achieved by all regardless of challenging circumstances through team work tenacity and focused dedication. ***Please note this posting is for the 2526 school year***ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with the Student Support Services team to ensure understanding of student occupational performance strengths and needs through evaluation educational program planning and service deliveryDevelop occupationally based intervention plans based on student needs and evaluation resultsParticipate in multidisciplinary meetings to review evaluation results integrate findings with other disciplines offer recommendations and develop individualized education plans and intervention plans to achieve IEP goalsProvide targeted evidencebased therapeutic intervention to facilitate student participation and occupational performance within the school environmentProvide continuing education and inservice training for educational personnel parents and community based service providersParticipate in case conferences to discuss student goals and plansConduct Occupational evaluationsKnowledge of:Child developmentSchool rules codes and standardsBasic special education methods and procedures for dealing with students with moderate to severe physical emotional and/or learning disabilities;Ability to follow written and oral instructions and observe School policies and procedures;Demonstrate patience in working with students of varying abilities and disabilities;Prepare maintain and present required reports records and documentation;Maintain a calm personal demeanor and remain focused in situations of high stress;Maintain student and District confidentiality;Operate classroom and standard office equipment including a personal computer using programs appropriate to assigned duties;Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students teachers and staff members and other School personnel;Communicate effectively both orally and in writing;Familiarity of ENRICH Special Education degree (required)Candidates should have successfully completed and graduated from an accredited occupational therapy professional program recognized by NBCOT and have completed all fieldwork requirements (required)Two years of experience as an occupational therapist preferably in school system or other pediatric practice setting (preferred)Commitment to working with underserved students (required)Experience working in in a public school (preferred)Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work as a member of a teamA deep commitment to develop and contribute to a community of educatorsFlexible and enthusiasticHiring is done without regard to race color religion national origin sex age or disability.
