    Per Diem Electrician (Day)
    Office of Facilities Management Project Control

    (Pending availability of funds and Board of Education approval)

    The Superintendent invites qualified and interested persons to apply for the position of Per Diem Electrician (Day) within the Office of Facilities Management Project Control.


    DEFINITION: Under direction does varied types of work involved in the installation inspection repair servicing and maintenance of electrical equipment appliances machinery and circuits; does related work as required.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
    1. Three 3 years of experience in work involving the installation inspection repair servicing and maintenance of electrical equipment appliances machinery and circuits.
    2. Appointees will be required to possess a drivers license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle rather than employee mobility is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position. Ability to read write speak understand or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position. American Sign Language or Braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication.
    3. Persons with mental or physical disabilities are eligible as long as they can perform the essential functions of the job after reasonable accommodation is made to their known limitations. If the accommodation cannot be made because it would cause the employer undue hardship such persons may not be eligible.
    4. May be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency office or related units.
    5. Appointees will be required to possess a drivers license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle rather than employee mobility is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.

    NOTE: Applicants who do not possess the required experience may substitute a current valid Electrical Contractor License issued by the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs for the required experience.

    NOTE: Appointees may be required to pass a colorblindness test.

    NOTE: Appointees may be required to possess a current valid Electrical Contractor license issued by the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs. The responsibility for verification of licensure rests with the Appointing Authority.



    BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    1. Inspects and repairs electrical wiring fixtures appliances motors generators pumps power circuits and controllers of machines and elevators.
    2. Installs maintains inspects repairs and services high and low tension power and light feeders generating and control equipment relays transformers motors pumps switches outlets signal systems and other electrical wiring cables fixtures and appliances of varied types.
    3. Oils greases and maintains in good working order electrical fixtures appliances and other equipment and replaces worn parts.
    4. Uses various types of test equipment such as ammeters voltmeters and ohmmeters.
    5. Make emergency electrical repairs trouble shoots malfunctions and breakdowns; inspects work in progress and completed work for defects fire hazards or other unsafe conditions.
    6. Works from electrical schematics plans and specifications in accordance with established procedures.
    7. Requisitions stores safeguards and properly uses electrical equipment materials and supplies.
    8. Prepares clear technically sound accurate and informative reports containing findings conclusions and recommendations.
    9. Maintains essential records and files.
    10. Will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency office or related units.

    KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
    1. Knowledge of the equipment and techniques involved in installing inspecting repairing and maintaining cables wiring motors generators pumps refrigerators radios sound equipment switchboards oil machinery and circuits.
    2. Knowledge of the challenges generally encountered in the performance of electrical work.
    3. Ability to read and interpret plans specifications and diagrams.
    4. Ability to analyze problems involving electrical installation inspection maintenance and repair work and develop effective work methods.
    5. Ability to install inspect repair and maintain cables wiring motor generators pumps refrigerators radios sound equipment oil burners and other types of electrical equipment appliances fixtures machinery and circuits under varying circumstances.
    6. Ability to understand remember and carry out oral and written directions.
    7. Ability to order store safeguard and properly use equipment materials and supplies.
    8. Ability to observe the required safety precautions.
    9. Ability to prepare clear technically sound accurate and informative reports containing findings conclusions and recommendations.
    10. Ability to maintain essential records and files.
    11. Ability to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency office or related units.

    1. Salary: $61.42/hour
