The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Hospitals Clinical Neurophysiology Department (CNPS) offers a wide selection of neurological diagnostic testing including EEG EMG IONM and Neurovascular Ultrasound. MUSC is a Level 4 Comprehensive Epilepsy Center as well as a Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center with world class technology (and attending physicians). For our longterm EEG patients we have a dedicated Inpatient EEG Monitoring Room which is staffed 24/7 optimizing diagnostic quality and enabling quickresponse patient care. As MUSCs neuroscience program continues to expand we are looking for strong dedicated people to join our team with a passion to deliver the best possible healthcare for our patients. Our Clinical Neurophysiology Lab proudly comprises five accredited labs including an IOM team Outpatient EEG team Inpatient EEG team EMG team and Neurovascular team. The Inpatient EEG Coordinator reports to the Manager of the Clinical Neurophysiology Services Department. The Inpatient EEG Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the daily 24hour inpatient EEG operations for both Adult and Pediatric Services as well as supervising the EEG Technical staff and Clinical Unit Leaders. This position is responsible for maintaining policies and procedures; and QA program development and implementation in conjunction. This role maintains our lab accreditations for Long Term EEG MonitoringThe Critical Care EEG Monitoring Program Long Term EEG MonitoringThe Epilepsy Monitoring Unit Program and Pediatric Lab. This position works with the Neurosurgeons and oversees epilepsy surgery cases which includes programming EEGs for recording of intracranial electrodes; providing intraoperative EEG monitoring; and following these patients EEGs to completion. The Inpatient EEG Coordinator provides backup coverage for the EEG Clinical Specialist Coordinator for leadership support. Under limited supervision the Inpatient EEG Coordinator supports the Clinical Neurophysiology Services department ICCE and Medical Center goals. Goals include achievement of clinical and quality measures operational efficiency financial targets as well as population/age specific needs of the department.
Additional Job Description
Associate degree or graduate of a CAAHEPaccredited Neurodiagnostic program or the equivalent bachelors degree is preferred and registered as an EEG Technician by ABRET required and must be maintained. Minimum of Five years Neurodiagnostic work experience required with at least three years EEG Technologist experience. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.If you like working with energetic enthusiastic individuals you will enjoy your career with us!
