Announcing an Examination Cycle for placement into the City of Peoria
September 2025 Police Eligibility Pool.
Salary : $65945.29 $67594.39 after certified training)
APPLICATION DEADLINE:Applications must be received by 5:00 p.m. Friday May 9 2025.
Application must include the following:

1. Photocopy of Drivers License.
2. Photocopy of Birth Certificate. NOTE: This should be a copy of the registered (or certified) birth certificate which is on file at the courthouse in the county of birth. The hospital certificate (with the footprints of the newborn) isNOTan acceptable document.
3. Photocopy of High School Diploma OR High School Transcript OR GED Certificate. You only need to submit one copy out of the three.(You still need to submit a copy of your High School Diploma High School Transcript or GED Certificate even if you have received a college degree.

The City of Peoria offers full testing services for the position of Police Recruit through National Testing Network (NTN). YOU MUST REGISTER TO TAKE THE WRITTEN EXAMINATION IN PERSON OR ONLINE! To register with NTN and schedule a test go to network select Find Jobs then select (Law Enforcement) jobs and sign up for the City of Peoria.

When you visit the website: THERE IS NO COST TO TAKE THE WRITTEN EXAMINATION FOR THE CITY OF PEORIA!

1. Complete the NTN registration process and schedule your test. You must complete the Public Safety Self Assessment.

2. Review all information related to the City of Peoria including minimum requirements salary and benefits.

3. Review detailed information about the testing process.

4. Review the Frequently Asked Questions and take an online practice test (if desired).

Upon completion of your scheduled exam scores are automatically forwarded to the City of Peoria. Candidates who attain a passing score on the entry level exam will be placed on the City of Peorias eligibility list. The City of Peoria will contact candidates on the list and will invite them to participate in further stages of the selection process.

National Testing Network is a service provided to conduct entry level testing in a standardized professional environment. National Testing Network does not replace the City of Peorias responsibility and decision making in the testing process. All candidate results are provided to the City of Peoria where the final decisions are made.

3.WRITTEN EXAM(Mandatory) (Held in person at the site listed below. This testing period there will be three 3 days offered to take the

written examination in person. You can only attend oneexamination date of your choice. You must contact the National Testing Network (NTN) by

visitingthe website to schedule your test. You must also complete the Public Safety Self Assessment. NO ONE ADMITTED AFTER 6:00 pm or 8:00 am (NO EXCEPTIONS)

There will be makeup sessions for the POWER test given at a later date.

Also the Police Department will be offering the opportunity to participate in Mock Interviews after the written examination. This is not mandatory but would be a great opportunity to practice your interviewing skills. They may be scheduled the week of June 2 2025. More details to follow.

Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

Age: Must be 21 years of age by date of the last written exam 05/24/2025; or 20 years of age for applicants who have successfully completed 2 years of law enforcement studies at an accredited college or university. By State Statute you cannot have attained age 35 when the application is submitted. (Exceptions made for individuals with prior municipal police experience. Contact the Human Resources Department for additional information).

Education: Graduation from high school or GED equivalent minimum to apply; Applicants with an associate degree or credit hours towards a bachelors degree is a plus.

Military: A Veteran shall be allowed to exceed the maximum age provision by the number of years served on active military duty but by no more than 10 years of active military duty. 45 years old) You would need to submit a Form DD214.

Record: Must agree to be fingerprinted and found not to have been convicted of a felony or certain misdemeanors as listed in Illinois State Statutes.

Examinations: Must pass written for placement into the Eligibility Pool. If selected for hire must pass POWER Test background investigation oral interview polygraph psychological and medical examinations including a drug screen prior to hire.

Supplemental Information

FINAL PROCEDURES

Applicants who meet all the minimum eligibility requirements and who pass the written examination and POWER test will have their names placed in the Police

Recruit Eligibility Pool in alphabetical order and will be eligible for hire until the pool expires. Candidates who are being considered for hire will also be required

to participate in a combined interview with department and the Fire and Police Commission. After the oral interview score the candidate may have added to

the composite score five 5 points if they have established residence in the City of Peoria. This is a rank ordered list of candidates to be hired as positions become

available. When this list is exhausted interviews will be conducted again by the department and the Fire and Police Commission and another hire eligibility list will be

made. When the applicants are given an offer of employment they will then be required to pass the POWER Test polygraph examination psychological evaluation a

medical examination including a drug screen and an extensive background investigation. The offer of employment is conditional upon passing all of the required testing

and will be withdrawn if you fail a test.

Once you are in the pool you can submit if applicable a copy of your college diploma and/or transcripts and any other certificates letters etc. you want to submit to show your qualifications. Also send in a photocopy of your DD214 Form If you are a veteran or are currently serving in the U.S. Military. If you are a current Officer send in your Law Enforcement training certificate.
