The Opportunity
Based onsite in Dusseldorf within our Instrument Development Team the R&D Engineer will collaborate broadly with a variety of engineering teams (electrical/mechanical/firmware etc) to define design evaluate and test components and systems of water analysis devices.
The R&D Engineer role spans all elements of the product development lifecycle (right from the initial understanding of user needs and system requirements) and involves working closely with specialist engineering teams to solve problems at every point as we develop the complete system solution.
The position also spans all the various instrument components and could entail sourcing new components from different suppliers or even specifying inhouse design when an off the shelf component isnt viable.

In this role a typical day will look like:
Work directly with a team of highly experienced technical experts in multiple roles and technologies
Plan develop and implement functional components and combine them to a functional analytical system
Evaluate data using statistical methods to define technical boundaries and drive project decisions
Specify test procedures measurements and evaluation criteria
Coordinate independently with other specialist departments
The essential requirements of the job include:
Bachelors or Masters degree in engineering sciences (optics physics fluid dynamics process electrical or similar) plus minimum 35 years of relevant instrument development and systems integration experience ideally in a commercial setting. Knowledge of water analysis methods is very useful but not critical
Accurate well organized and eager to learn
A creative problem solver and have the ability to work both independently and in a team
Excellent communication skills including English language (advanced) & German (at least B1/B2 minimum)
