Job Description

Responsible for assisting with managing the patient care delivery and team members on a specific patient care unit for the total numbers of hours that the unit is operational. The assistant nurse manager is responsible for supporting daily operations of a specific unit in collaboration with the Director and Nurse Manager. Provides any special skills/knowledge base related to the patient mix of the unit/special functions of the unit. Supports Augusta Health mission and philosophy. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her assigned unit or within his/her department including knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span. Managerial and clinical duties will be incorporated depending on span of control.

Required Qualifications:

  • Current and valid Registered nurse license in the Commonwealth of Virginia or from a state that is part of a Compact agreement with Virginia
  • BSN
  • Annual education for unitspecific and hospital skills
  • Annual education per hospital certifications
  • BLS
  • ACLS/PALS if required for team members in specific unit
  • Minimum of one year experience as a Registered Nurse in acute inpatient setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Membership in professional organization desirable

  • Ability to work under stressful and changing situations
  • Leadership competencies as defined by the organization
  • Annual Augusta Health educational requirements per hospital certifications and defined unit competencies.
  • Regulatory Requirements Designated Accreditation body State Fire Environmental etc.
