WHO WERE SEEKING
Grossmont College seeks academic professionals who are dedicated to equitable and superior student success outcomes for all students. We are looking for candidates who will demonstrate a history and willingness to continue to learn about varied relevant teaching and learning practices assessment strategies and educationally sound supports that will sustain a diverse and changing student body and college service area.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Regular/contract instructors participate in the planning implementation and evaluation of educational programs courses and other experiences that will directly result in the educational growth of the students and support advancement of the visions missions and values of the college and District. This position will include a combination of day and evening assignments face to face and online courses large lectures and small seminars and is being offered by a college strongly committed to the open door concept serving a diverse student population. Instructors will be expected to participate in the continuing administration of the Dance department and to perform other duties consistent with their faculty job description as stated in the faculty contract including Department Chair responsibilities.
The Dance Program offers an AA degree a Certificate of Achievement and a full suite of lower division transfer courses. The production schedule includes two fulllength dance concerts in Grossmont Colleges stateoftheart Performing and Visual Arts Center under the direction of the Department Chair as well as a Touring Ensemble.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: APPLICANTS MUST MEET ONE OF THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:
Masters in dance physical education with a dance emphasis or theater with dance emphasis OR Bachelors in any of the above AND Masters in physical education any life science physiology theater arts kinesiology humanities performing arts or music OR the equivalent

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Academic preparation for or successful teaching experience at the community college or university level in dance technique performance or pedagogy.
2. Professional experience in dance performance and choreography.
3. Experience in teaching dance technique courses in at least two of the following dance genres: Ballet Modern Jazz Hip Hop. Additional teaching experience in Ballroom Latin Dance Tap Pilates and/or other World Dance forms will also be considered.
4. Academic preparation for or successful experience in teaching lecture courses in dance such as Dance History or Dance Appreciation and theorybased movement courses such as Choreography.
5. Ability to cultivate and maintain positive working relationships with faculty staff administration students and the community.
6. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
7. The skill experience and equitymindset to be able to instruct and motivate students of diverse age ancestry race ability ethnicity perspective national origin religion gender gender identity sexual orientation education and socioeconomic status.
8. Experience in a leadership or management position in the arts business nonprofit or education.
9. Experience in Canvas or other online learning platform for both inperson and webbased online teaching.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS Candidates will also be evaluated for qualifications in the following:
1. Ability to develop and implement innovative curricula that meets the demands of a diverse student population.
2. Ability to assess the local/regional dance and entertainment industry and create curricula for potential career paths.
3. Evidence of involvement with communityrelated projects in the public interest such as participating in liaison and outreach activities with high schools transfer institutions and community in performance.
4. Ability and willingness to prepare funding proposals for instructional and dance projects.
5. Ability and willingness to participate in department and campus affairs.
6. Perform other duties consistent with the faculty job description as stated in the faculty contract.
