Job Description

Job Title: Educational Consultant ElementaryRLA/Reading

Exemption Status/Test: Exempt/Executive*
or Administrative

Reports to: Associate Director of Instructionand School Support

Pay Grade: P3

Department: Curriculum & Instruction

Status: Full time

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters degree preferred with a minimum of five years experience in teaching
  • Knowledge and expertise in specific content and/or assigned specialty area

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Educational Consultant Elementary RLA/Reading shall be directly responsible to the Associate Director of Instruction and School Support. The Educational Consultant shall assist Region 18 local education agencies (LEAs) administrators teachers and other stakeholders in the design implementation and delivery of effective curriculum instruction and assessments.

  • Plan develop conduct and/or facilitate staff development designed to raise the level of student achievement in Region 18 LEAs.
  • Collaboratively plan develop and/or facilitate longrange instructional staff development programs across ESC teams for ESC (Education Service Center) and LEAs (Local Education Agencies).
  • Actively participate as a member of the ESC/LEA team and within the appropriate Professional Learning Community (PLC).
  • Assist with compiling analyzing and/or interpreting data such as student performance in relation to state standards and program evaluation to attain program excellence.
  • Secure the aid of resource persons and consultants to supplement and enrich programs of local schools.
  • Assist with the development of procedures for evaluating the effectiveness of service center programs and recommend modifications as needed to attain ESC goals.
  • Keep abreast of current instructional practices and techniques professional literature and state and federal regulations related to job responsibilities.
  • Acquire develop and demonstrate new skills by participating in professional growth activities in crossfunctioning teams.
  • Maintain open communication and confidentiality in accordance with the Texas Professional Standards of Ethics.
  • Assist LEAs with enriching and improving student performance effectively using elements of the planning process which include assessment goal setting objective development resources identification timeline establishment and evaluation design.
  • Exhibit effective communication skills and professional demeanor when communicating with clients.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Director of Instruction and School Support and/or other ESC administrators.





SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide expertise and technical assistance for LEAs in addressing issues that specifically impact curriculum instruction assessment/data and instructional leadership issues.
  • Assist LEAs with the adoption implementation and effective use of a quality curriculum process.
  • Provide LEAs with information staff development and/or technical support for implementing quality instruction and differentiation.
  • Provide LEAs with information and staff development for implementing quality instructional leadership practices.
  • Provide LEAs with information and staff development for implementing quality assessment and data analysis practices.
  • Utilize technology within the ESC and with our clients to enhance communication as well as job efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Incorporate the use of technology into staff development as applicable and as new technology becomes available.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Director of Instruction and School Support and/or other ESC administration.

Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping pushing/pulling and twisting

Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; occasional statewide travel and outofstate travel
