The Department
Alfred Health Radiation Oncology (AHRO) operates two radiotherapy centres in Victoria. One centre is located at The Alfred Hospital campus known as Alfred Radiation Oncology (ARO). The other centre is known as Gippsland Radiation Oncology (GRO) and is located at Latrobe Regional Health (LRH) Traralgon.
At ARO the centre operates 2 High Definition TrueBeam Linacs 1 Standard Definition TrueBeam Linac a Superficial treatment unit 3D printing capability a CT Scanner BRAVOS High Dose Rate (HDR) Brachytherapy Afterloader Xray Brachytherapy Imaging and U/S devices related to the Low Dose Rate (LDR) Prostate Brachytherapy program. In conjunction with advanced modulated LINAC treatment deliveries ARO also delivers Stereotactic Radiosurgery treatments Stereotactic Ablative Body Radiotherapy (SABR) treatments Total Body Irradiation (TBI) treatments and motion management treatments. The stereotactic program is further supported by Elements treatment planning systems and the ExacTrac image guidance on all linacs.
At GRO the centre operates 2 Standard Definition TrueBeam Linacs CT Scanner Superficial treatment unit 3D printing capability and LDR Prostate Brachytherapy. Our regional centre provides advanced modulated LINAC treatment deliveries and Stereotactic Ablative Body Radiotherapy (SABR) treatments.
The radiotherapy treatment planning system (Eclipse) and the oncology information system (ARIA) are cloudbased services enabling effective integration across both sites. AHRO has been an early adopter and is a world leader in the clinical use of Surface Guided Radiotherapy technology and operates the VisionRT product on all 5 Linacs and 2 CT scanners.
The Medical Physics team within the department provides technical and clinical support and expertise for these specialised treatments. The team also manages patient & staff radiation safety new equipment assessment and commissioning and the routine quality assurance programs associated with all clinical imaging and treatment delivery technology.
The Role
Alfred Health Radiation Oncology is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Radiation Oncology Medical Physics Registrar. As our new Registrar you will join a team of highly skilled and experienced Radiation Oncology Medical Physicists.
Participation in the Australasian College of Physical Scientists and Engineers in Medicine (ACPSEM) Radiation Oncology Medical Physics (ROMP) Training Education and Assessment Program (TEAP) is a requirement. As part of the TEAP Program you will gain experience in a range of clinical medical physics services including radiation safety radiation dosimetry radiotherapy equipment and treatment planning.
The position is primarily based at Gippsland Radiation Oncology (Traralgon) but attendance at Alfred Radiation Oncology (Melbourne) will also be required.
We are seeking a motivated applicant with good communication collaboration and practical skills to work as part of a multidisciplinary team including Radiation Oncologists Radiation Therapists Nurses Technical Service Engineers and other Allied Health Professionals.
