Job Description
Position Summary

Salary: $16218 $20575 / quarter basedepending on experience & education
(Per quarter salary calculation:Base multiplied by class load ex.: $20575 base * 50 teaching load approx. $10287.50

Instructors teach collegelevel courses to transfer and vocational students. They also contribute to the departments efforts to improve student retention and success. Opportunities are available for teaching in learning communities online and in other nontraditional learning environments. In addition to teaching this position may involve developing programs and curricula and participating in college governance department/division and other campusrelated professional activities.
Qualifications
Required Education & Experience:
- Masters degree in Biology or related
- Experience teaching training or mentoring adults
- Microsoft Office programs learning management systems and other appropriate instructional technology
- Fostering a climate of equity and belonging through multicultural awareness and responsiveness
- Imparting excitement and enthusiasm into the instruction of biology
- Experience with or willingness to gain experience with teaching and developing coursework online
- Contributing to equity and belonging through multicultural awareness and competence
- Effective oral/written communication with individuals at all levels inside and outside the College
- Adapting to a variety of teaching situations with students from diverse backgrounds/abilities
- Developing/modifying curriculum both collaboratively and independently
- Working and interacting effectively with colleagues staff students administrators and others of various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds
Conditions of Employment
Physical Work Environment:
The College is currently in mixed (both inperson and online instruction) operations with the option for some assignments to completed in a fully online environment based on program or area needs. For remote (online) instruction faculty will need to provide their own workspace and internet access noting the College will provide technical equipment and support for online work needs. For oncampus inperson instruction work is usually performed in a classroom/office space that requires standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time. Faculty typically use computers and media equipment in the work environment.
Terms of Employment/Salary:
This is a parttime nontenured quartertoquarter assignment. Salary is dependent upon the number of contact hours for this assignment as provided in the agreement with the Shoreline Community College Federation of Teachers. Hiring of this position is contingent upon available funding as determined by the College President.Required Materials
