This position will be under the general direction of the Tobacco Enforcement Investigator(s). In this position you will work closely with business and community organizations to ensure compliance with local State and Federal Tobacco control laws and to enforce the laws prohibiting the sale and distribution of tobacco products to minors.
Duties Include:
Conduct investigative activities under the supervision of Tobacco Enforcement Investigators.

Candidates will be working in a variety of settings and environments depending on where investigations/inspections are being conducted. Locations vary from rural communities like Tok and Haines to major cities like Anchorage and Juneau.

Proof of enrollment in a recognized public charter vocational correspondence home or private school program; academic goodstanding equivalent to a cumulative gradepoint average of 2.0 or higher; and eligibility to receive a General Duties Work Permit from the Alaska Department of Labor & Workforce Development.

Student Intern positions may be established and allocated to all job classes within the series. The interns are assigned and perform duties of progressive difficulty and complexity under diminishing levels of supervision as the intern successfully completes corresponding stages of the established training plan and evaluative criteria. Vacancies may be filled at either job class depending on the applicants training and/or experience. The department may request reallocation to a higher job class when: the intern completes the approved multiple class training plan and evaluative criteria; the supervisor certifies that the intern has met the minimum qualifications for the higher job class; and the incumbent is capable of performing at the higher level.
