ABOUT THE COLLEGE:
Green River College has four campuses including the main campus in Auburn with satellite campuses in Kent downtown Auburn and Enumclaw. Green River programs serve high school graduates Running Start students (dual enrollment in local high schools and the college) those seeking retraining for the workforce international students learning English as a second language and Continuing
Education students. Green Rivers service areas are increasingly ethnically diverse comprising African Americans African immigrants Asian Americans Asians Latinos/as Native Americans Pacific Islanders and Middle Eastern Americans among other communities.

DIVISION/DEPARTMENT STATEMENT:

Fulltime faculty members are committed to teaching a broad range of science courses using various methods and modes of instruction to support student engagement and promote student success. We seek an additional team member who can adapt instructional methods to meet the needs of our diverse students who come to GRC from a wide span of cultural and experiential backgrounds and have a variety of professional and personal interests.


Position Responsibilities

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in the classroom and with other professionals.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with students colleagues staff and administrators as well as the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to effectively contribute to student advising curriculum development and revision collaboration with colleaguesand participation in other college and division professional activities.
  • Ethics integrity and sound judgment.

Qualifications


MINIMUM Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in the biological sciences with demonstrated excellence in teaching majors and nonmajors biology.
  • One year of experience teaching college level biology courses (lecture and laboratory) as the instructor of record.
PREFERRED Qualifications:
  • Course work in Anatomy & Physiology and/or ability to teach microbiology.
  • One year or more additional instructional experience in college settings.
  • Familiarity and willingness to teach with different teaching modalities including online hybrid with an emphasis on facetoface teaching.
  • Demonstratedcommitmenttocontinueddevelopmentofsuccessfulteachingstrategies.
  • Ability to be flexible to the departments needs in schedule and location. Classes could include occasional night or branch campus offerings.
