Lecturer A/2 FullTime Equivalent Salary Range: $5507 $6677 per month
Lecturer B/3 FullTime Equivalent Salary Range: $6221 $13224 per month
Lecturer C/4 FullTime Equivalent Salary Range: $6825 $14523 per month
Lecturer D/5 FullTime Equivalent Salary Range: $8593 $15211 per month
Anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range commensurate with education and experience. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. See the Faculty Salaries AtaGlance guide for more information.

Position Summary:
The Sociology Department in the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences is collecting application materials for a pool of lecturers with positions available as determined by need during the 202425 academic year. Appointments from the lecturer pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term.
Minimum Qualifications:
The minimum education requirement for a lecturer appointment is a M.A in Sociology or other relevant field.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience teaching sociology to diverse students. Bilingual candidates will be given preference.
Responsibilities:
Lecturers will teach one or more sections of courses for which the Department Chair deems them qualified. Teaching assignments are based upon qualifications of the individual and the needs of the department.

The Department:
The Sociology Department trains students in critical thinking data collection and analysis and a social justice perspective that highlights movements seeking equality in terms of race class gender and sexuality. Our program specializes in seeking to interrogate intra and inter group conflict micro and macro social forces and qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis. In all of our classes students learn about and practice theory to better map and understand the social world. The Sociology Department has two undergraduate programs: an oncampus program and a parallel Distance Education program. We have approximately 550 majors 70 of which are Distance Education students and nearly twothirds of which are students of color. We emphasize upperdivision course offerings but offer several lowerdivision courses as part of the General Education program for the campus as well as contribute courses to several of the upperdivision GE Pathways.
