The College of Humanities and Sciences at Thomas Jefferson University seeks to hire an Assistant Professor of Psychology on the tenure track with scholarly expertise in any of the following specializations: developmental psychology cognitive psychology learning theory or other experimentallyfocused psychology specialization.The successful candidate will conduct research and scholarship in their discipline and teach specialized undergraduate courses in experimentallybased areas specifically Cognitive Psychology Learning Theory and the candidates specialty area. The ability to teach Developmental Psychology and an undergraduate course is Statistics would be highly valued. The standard teaching load is 9 credits per semester. A record of strong scholarship in the candidates field(s) of expertise as well as demonstrated engagement in the pedagogy of active student learning is required. Service contributions to the program the college and the university are expected. Contributions may include undergraduate advising participation in University events (such as Open Houses) and committee work.
Job Description
EDUCATION REQUIRED: Candidate must have a research doctorate or a foreign equivalent to a U.S. doctoral degree in an experimentallybased area of Psychology. ABD candidates will be considered.
The ideal candidate will have a record of excellence in teaching at the university level. Prior experience teaching experimentallybased psychology courses including Cognitive Psychology Learning Theory Statistics and Developmental Psychology is greatly preferred; A record of strong scholarship in the candidates field(s) of expertise as well as demonstrated engagement in the pedagogy of active student learning is required.
