What you will do at Precinct One:
The Office of Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellisis looking for a Senior Project Manager!
Assists the Deputy Director Planning as an Art Project Manager of various art projects in the Office of Commissioner Rodney Ellis. Engage communities and stakeholders in project management of public art projects. In addition lead urban design assignments within public rightofway facilities and parks to promote the Office of Commissioner Rodney Ellis values by participating in the creative process of all projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop creative conceptual plans for all projects that are planned within Commissioner Precinct One facilities streets and parks.
- Manage existing public art projects and propose new innovative public art projects for consideration.
- Provide information and assistance to the Communications team to develop promotional materials regarding exhibitions and programs including content for the Precinct website and social media platforms.
- Organize and plan multiple projects with support from County and external stakeholders including artists design professionals (architects/landscape architects/engineers) outside contractors vendors/suppliers for the installation and/or implementation of murals and artwork.
- Responsible for project management of multiple public art projects. Public art projects must adhere to additional public art policies and guidelines that impact various phases of each project selecting artists contracting design review and approval process for public art commissions and innovations and creative solutions for built environment and open spaces.
- Facilitates art (including sculpture) loans in collaboration with the Offices Law and Compliance Officer and tracks location and ensures care of pieces on loan.
- Serve as interdepartmental liaison for projects involving Commissioner Precinct One divisions.
- Administer the first Commissioner Precinct One partnership program with specific website application process and formally schedule review and approval process that includes input from leadership team.
- Assist in the development of grants from various entities to facilitate implementation of Commissioner Precinct One projects.
- Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:
- Masters degree in Urban Planning Urban Design or field of study from an accredited college or university
- Four 4 years of active practice in urban planning or urban design after graduation.
OR:
- Bachelors degreein Urban Planning Urban Design orfield of study from an accredited college or university
- Six 6 years of active practice in urban planning or urban design after graduation.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong visual design concept development skills.
- Critical thinking and attention to detail.

Certification:

General Information
Position Type and Typical Hours of Work:
- Fulltime Regular
- Monday FridayWork hours for this position are typically 8hours 5 days per week with occasional afterhours and/or weekend work.
- For emergency events additional work hours are expected and may include up to 24hour shifts and 7day work weeks.
Work Environment:- This position may operate in an indoor professional office environment and/or outdoor environment. Exposure to various and extreme weather conditions temperature variations loud noises and possible dangerous chemicals could be encountered.
- This position includes standard office work which may require remaining stationary and working at a computer workstation for extended periods of time.
- At times files or boxes must be transported weighing up to 15 Ibs.
- It also includes fieldwork which may require driving to and walking through active job sites and/or undeveloped areas containing uneven and sloped surfaces.

There are four precincts in Harris County. The four elected commissioners along with an elected county judge serve as members of Harris County Commissioners Court the administrative head of the countys government.
With approximately 1.1 million residents Harris County Precinct One is a diverse urban precinct that covers 363 square miles. Precinct Ones multiracial multiethnic population is roughly 39 percent African American 37 percent Latino 18 percent Anglo 5 percent Asian and 1 percent other.
Precinct One stretches south to Brazoria County and reaches into eastern and northern sections of Harris County. The Precincts territory includes a large section of Downtown Houston including the Downtown Harris County Courthouse Complex Toyota Center Minute Maid Park and the Shell Energy Stadium. Other notable landmarks include the 263acre NRG Park Complex and the renowned Texas Medical Center. The Precinct is also the higher educational home to Houston Community College Rice University Texas Southern University the University of Houston and the University of St. Thomas.
